Kikunojou Tendou is the current head of the influential Tendou family and serves as the grandfather of Kisara Tendou. He is an elderly man of light skin and gray eyes, characterized by a chevron mustache, a full white beard trimmed at the sides, and spiky white hair that is slicked back with a ponytail, with two strands hanging in front of his forehead. His wardrobe traditionally consists of a long white haori and white hakama, resembling classic Japanese clothing.

In terms of personality, Kikunojou initially displays a caring and pleasant demeanor. This is most evident when he takes in Rentaro Satomi after the death of his parents, offering the young boy a home and speaking highly of his deceased friends. He has also demonstrated bravery, standing his ground to protect the weak, including a young Rentaro and Kisara, during a Gastrea attack.

Despite this facade, Kikunojou holds extreme purebloodist views and holds a deep-seated animosity towards the Cursed Children. His primary motivation is rooted in a political agenda to oppose legislation that would protect the Cursed Children, whom he sees as a threat. He is willing to go to great lengths to achieve this, including orchestrating events that endanger the Tokyo Area to create public antipathy towards the Cursed Children.

Kikunojou holds a significant political role as the aide and close advisor to Seitenshi, the ruler of the Tokyo Area. He is often seen standing beside her during public addresses and official meetings with Civil Security officers. However, his relationship with Seitenshi is complex; while he wields enormous power and could rule without her, he shows a contradictory reluctance to see her come to actual harm.

His key relationships are fraught with tension. He is the sole target of his granddaughter Kisara Tendou's vengeance, and she glares at him whenever they are in each other's presence. He is also the adoptive guardian of Rentaro Satomi, having raised the boy after his parents' death, yet his actions put Rentaro in direct opposition to him. He was a client of the villain Kagetane, collaborating with him to spread chaos and anti-Cursed Child sentiment, which ultimately forces Rentaro to confront him.

Kikunojou's background includes fighting in the Great Gastrea War against the monsters threatening humanity. This personal experience, and presumably the loss of his own family during the conflict, is what fuels his extreme purebloodist ideology and his hatred for the Gastrea virus and its hosts.
