Description
Nike Remercier is the main protagonist of the anime The World Is Still Beautiful. She is seventeen years old, has long orange or honey-colored hair, and green eyes. She is the fourth and youngest princess of the Rain Dukedom, a mysterious and isolated country where the weather is perpetually rainy and nearly all inhabitants have the ability to create rain with their voices. Nike is one of the most powerful rain summoners of her time; she can call forth rain by singing, and she also possesses the additional abilities to glimpse into another person's past and to manipulate the wind. Her relationship with her homeland is defined by a sense of duty, but she is not particularly attached to royal luxuries or formalities.

Her personality is marked by fierce independence and straightforwardness. Nike has no hesitation in speaking her mind, which often brings her into direct conflict with those who expect her to behave like a proper princess. She cares little for royal customs and prefers a simple, humble way of living. She is rugged and brave, unwilling to back down from any challenge, especially when the safety of others is at stake. Her primary motivation is to protect and help the people she cares about, and she makes decisions based on her own moral compass rather than the expectations of the court.

In the story, Nike travels to the Sun Kingdom after losing a bet with her older sisters, forcing her to marry the young Sun King, Livius. The Sun Kingdom is a land of perpetual sunshine where rain is unknown, and the world-conquering king is rumored to be a merciless ruler. Upon arrival, Nike is shocked to discover that the king is still a child. Their relationship begins contentiously: Livius demands she summon rain for entertainment, and she refuses, insisting she cannot call the rain without first seeing the beauty of the world. Over time, their dynamic evolves from a marriage of convenience into a deep emotional bond. Nike becomes a key figure in the Sun Kingdom, eventually becoming its queen.

Key relationships in her life include her bond with Livius, which grows through mutual understanding and respect, her ties to the Rain Dukedom where her family background defines much of her identity, and the allies she makes within the Sun Kingdom who appreciate her authenticity. She also has a supportive network that helps her navigate her responsibilities.

Throughout the story, Nike undergoes significant development. Her experiences outside the confines of royal life, combined with her interactions with Livius, force her to mature emotionally. She confronts rigid royal norms, faces various crises, and grows into a determined and compassionate leader. Her abilities also evolve as she learns more about her lineage and the consequences of her powers. Excessive use of her abilities can drain her energy, teaching her the importance of restraint and balance.
