Description
Anne is a minor character who appears during the first half of the Stardust Crusaders story. She is a young girl, approximately eleven or twelve years old, of average height with a thin to medium build. She has long, dark hair, a small, slightly upturned nose, and freckles. Her typical outfit consists of overalls worn over a light shirt. When she is first introduced, Anne is disguised as a boy, wearing a cap that hides her long hair. After her true identity is discovered, she discards the cap and no longer attempts to hide her gender.

Anne’s personality is a mixture of bravado and immaturity. Upon meeting the Joestar group, she acts as a temperamental and irreverent brat, easily annoyed and quick to anger. When the group considered what to do with her, she once challenged all five members with a small knife, pretending to be a cold-blooded killer. She is also quite talkative, often chattering away even in tense situations. Anne is genuinely brave and adventurous, having run away from home to travel the world, and she is a confident swimmer. However, this courage is undercut by recklessness and a lack of real-world experience, particularly when faced with the supernatural dangers of Stands. She fancies herself a mature and beautiful young woman, but her behavior often reveals her youth, such as when she tries to bribe the group with stolen pictures or when she freezes in panic during an attack instead of running to safety.

Anne’s primary motivation is her desire to see the world. She ran away from her home in Hong Kong, believing that posing as a boy would make traveling easier and that her current age was the best time for such an adventure. While she gives the group several lies about meeting her father in Singapore, it is eventually revealed that she is a runaway with no intention of returning home. Her motivations are also hinted to include a budding crush on Jotaro Kujo and simply having nothing else to do.

Anne’s role in the story is that of a tagalong and a charge for the main protagonists. She first appears as a stowaway on a cruise ship where she is discovered and then saved from a shark by Jotaro Kujo, who also reveals she is a girl. She is briefly taken hostage by the enemy Stand user, Captain Tennille. After that battle, she refuses to leave the group in Singapore, claiming she will meet her father in five days. The group reluctantly allows her to stay, but she secretly continues to follow them onto a train to India after they believe they have left her behind. Her presence often creates complications, forcing the group to protect her during dangerous Stand battles, which Jotaro notes only drags them down and risks their lives.

Key relationships define much of her time with the group. She develops a notable crush on Jotaro Kujo, finding his cool demeanor and good looks appealing, and the anime expands on this by showing her happiness at his farewell. Her relationship with the rest of the Joestar group, including Joseph Joestar, Muhammad Avdol, Noriaki Kakyoin, and Jean Pierre Polnareff, is one of tolerated nuisance. They are initially suspicious she might be an enemy Stand user but eventually come to see her as a troublesome but somewhat endearing child. Polnareff, in particular, notes that the journey feels lonely without her chatter after they try to leave her behind.

Over the course of her appearance, Anne shows a small degree of development. She starts as a completely independent and unruly runaway, but she gradually comes to understand the gravity of the group's mission. After a battle where her panicked screaming endangers the others, and after Joseph Joestar explains the situation regarding Jotaro's mother, Holy, she finally agrees to stop running away. She accepts money and a plane ticket to return to Hong Kong, but not before cheering for Jotaro to save his mother’s life, showing a newfound maturity and understanding.

Anne does not possess a Stand and has no supernatural abilities. Her only notable skills are her confidence as a swimmer, even believing she could swim from the middle of the ocean to the shore, and her claimed proficiency with a small knife, though her actual skill with it is never demonstrated.
