Description
Ira Gamagōri holds the positions of Disciplinary Committee Chair and one of the Elite Four on Honnōji Academy's Student Council. Standing at 2.69 meters, he is the tallest character, possessing a muscular build, darker skin, short blond hair, thick eyebrows, and small gold earrings in stretched earlobes; his physical size shifts dramatically based on his emotional state.
Defined by absolute loyalty to Satsuki Kiryūin, whom he proclaims himself "Lady Satsuki's impenetrable shield," Gamagōri enforces rules with extreme severity, executing violators and displaying corpses as deterrents. Yet he differentiates between rule-breakers and innocent students, offering help when necessary. A distinct masochistic streak surfaces in battle, where he revels in pain, exclaiming "Punish me more." He exhibits no modesty regarding nudity, often appearing in only underwear after losing his uniform. Underpinning these traits is a strong sense of honor, shown when he attempted seppuku after a defeat until Satsuki intervened.
His history began at Rinne-Dō Junior High, where he confronted bullies forcing a classmate toward suicide. Satsuki intervened, dismantling the bullies' family influence and saving the boy. Gamagōri initially resisted Satsuki's ensuing takeover, vowing never to kneel to her. However, her piercing of his hidden steel armor during their duel and his unyielding resolve impressed her, leading to his recruitment. He postponed his education for two years to enter Honnōji Academy alongside Satsuki, becoming one of her earliest followers with Nonon Jakuzure.
Gamagōri possesses innate superhuman strength, allowing him to overpower Goku Uniform users unaided and grapple barehanded with massive COVERS monsters. His primary Three-Star Goku Uniform, the Shackle Regalia, transforms into a mummy-like bondage suit that absorbs damage to increase his size and durability while neutralizing Life Fiber-absorption attacks; its cloth strips act as whips or restraints. If opponents withhold attacks, he employs Self-Flagellation to build energy internally. This powers his secondary form, Scourge Regalia, releasing stored damage as explosive area blasts and deploying spiked whips or chakrams; it can also crush foes between molds of "ideal students." Later upgrades include the Shackle Regalia Mk.II, featuring Egyptian motifs and electrical chain emissions, and Shackle Regalia: Persona Unleashed—a black-and-gold variant that further amplifies his physical might. This ultimate form enables techniques like the flame-coated Fire Fist and the Unrestrained Ego Blast, firing energy faces capable of shattering Life Fiber structures.
After the Elite Four defected to Nudist Beach, Gamagōri discarded his Goku Uniform for their guerrilla attire. He fought in the final battle against Ragyō Kiryūin, using Persona Unleashed to block her Life Fiber blades and aiding in the destruction of the Life Fiber transmitter. In the OVA, he helped thwart Rei Hōōmaru’s doppelgänger attack during Honnōji Academy’s graduation, culminating in the academy's sinking.
