Koku Hanabata, alias Trumpet, began as a politician leading the Hearts and Minds Party before joining the Meta Liberation Army. He ascended to a top commander role and later became a Paranormal Liberation Front lieutenant after the merger with the League of Villains.
He maintains a calm and level-headed demeanor, demonstrating intelligence and manipulative skill. Hanabata remained unshaken by Curious's death, using the event to motivate allies via his Quirk. His arrogance surfaces as malice when rejecting Spinner's claim of equality with the Meta Liberation Army. Loyalty to Re-Destro and Destro's ideology defines him, though he struggles with Re-Destro's subservience to Tomura Shigaraki.
His Quirk, "Incite," emits special electromagnetic waves through his voice, enhancing the physical and mental abilities of trusting listeners; the effect strengthens as his voice grows louder. He amplifies this power using "Sevens Loud," a helmet-like device with seven amplifiers typically disguised as wristbands. His leadership and charisma enable large-scale rallying, boosting morale after Curious's death and during Gigantomachia's Deika City rampage.
In the Meta Liberation Army Arc, Hanabata orchestrated the attack on the League of Villains in Deika City. He initiated the Revival Celebration, declaring 90% of the city's population were Liberation soldiers. Following Curious's death, his amplified speeches incited soldiers against Shigaraki. His confrontation with Spinner revealed disdain for perceived inferiors, though Spinner's defiance briefly disrupted his focus. When Gigantomachia attacked, Hanabata redirected forces to protect Re-Destro, arriving as Shigaraki's Decay Quirk devastated the area. Re-Destro's surrender forced his acceptance of Shigaraki's leadership.
Within the Paranormal Liberation Front, Hanabata attended strategy meetings as a lieutenant. During the war, he and Re-Destro prepared to address followers beneath Gunga Mountain Villa. Blocked escape routes by heroes led him to accompany Re-Destro's counterattack until structural collapse trapped them. Hanabata was later arrested alongside Re-Destro, Geten, and thousands of soldiers.
His combat statistics rate physical power and speed low (1/6 E), technique and wits higher (4/6 B), and rallying ability strongest (5/6 A).
