Description
Akemi Sumizome is a supporting character who appears as a classmate of the protagonist, Inari Fushimi. She is a student at Fujikusa Middle School, where she is considered an idol by her peers and is often described as talented, beautiful, and dependable. Her physical appearance features mid-back length amber hair typically tied with two black ribbons, complemented by square bangs and bronze eyes. She stands 155 centimeters tall and has a birthday of February 21.

Regarding her background, Akemi comes from a family situation that has required her to be self-reliant. Her parents are frequently depicted as busy, and her father is a cross-dresser, a fact that does not seem to bother Akemi personally but has contributed to a home life where she feels she has no one to talk to. This environment forced her to depend on herself from an early age. At school, she serves as the manager for the basketball club and is known for her diligence, often spending her evenings at an academy.

In terms of personality, Akemi is generally a kind and polite individual who thinks of others, especially her friends. She is an excellent student who loves school and homework, but beneath this composed exterior lies a surprisingly ferocious temper, particularly when it comes to protecting those she cares about. Despite being the object of admiration for many boys at school, she is somewhat insensitive to romantic attention from them and can be naive about male advances. She has a particular fondness for reading and making sweets, and her stated dream for the future is to work at a nursery.

Akemi's role in the story begins as a source of envy for Inari, who initially wishes to become her due to her perceived perfection. However, after a misunderstanding regarding her feelings for a male student named Koji Tanbabashi is cleared up, Akemi and Inari develop a close, supportive friendship. She becomes a valuable confidante for Inari, and through Inari's encouragement, she also develops an interest in reading manga.

A central part of Akemi's character arc involves her romantic feelings for her classmate, Keiko Sanjo. After Keiko saves her from a suspicious person, Akemi develops a strong attraction to Keiko's boyish qualities. She initially struggles to accept these feelings, fearing that she will be considered strange or weird because it is love between two girls. With encouragement from her friends, including Inari, she learns to accept her own feelings and decides to be honest about them. While her confession to Keiko is ultimately rejected, the two are able to remain friends.

Notable abilities include her academic excellence and her physical competence, as she demonstrates proficiency in sports and a surprising amount of strength in physical confrontations, especially when defending her friends. Her cooking skills are also said to be excellent. While initially appearing as a flawless idol, her development reveals a person who is caring, protective, and capable of deep affection, while also dealing with her own vulnerabilities and the courage it takes to be true to herself.
