TV-Series
Description
Hina Yumihara is the central heroine of the narrative, a sixteen-year-old girl whose life is defined by a complex journey through time. She is a skilled pilot of large humanoid war machines called Valiancers, holding the rank of Ensign. Physically, she is recognized by her long black hair and purple eyes. Her identity is split across two distinct eras: in the year 2014, she is a quiet transfer student at Aoba Watase's high school, while in the war-torn future of 2088, she serves as a soldier named Hina Ryazan for the Zogilia Republic, the primary enemy of the Free Pact Alliance.

In the peaceful setting of 2014, Hina appears shy and reserved, particularly around Aoba, often acting stiff and formal despite clearly harboring feelings for him. This outward shyness masks a deep determination, as her true purpose for being in the past is to protect Aoba from an assassin from the future. Her personality in the future is drastically different due to a lack of shared memories. There, she is a vehement and aggressive soldier who is deeply patriotic and loyal to her comrades. She initially views Aoba as a frustrating enemy of Zogilia, and his actions even lead to her being suspected of treason by her own superiors, fueling her anger toward him.

Hina's role in the story is that of a protector, a soldier, and a paradoxically connected individual. After saving Aoba from an attack in 2014, she is pulled into a time vortex, sending him seventy years into the future and losing her own memories in the process. Found on a battlefield with no recollection of her past except her name, she is adopted by a Zogilian officer, Viktor Ryazan, and raised as a soldier. This creates a tragic irony when Aoba arrives in the future and encounters her as his enemy. Her mission to save him in the past leads to her becoming his adversary in the future, driving much of the early conflict as she doggedly pursues him to prove her loyalty to Zogilia.

Her key relationships are central to her development. Her bond with Aoba Watase is the most significant, transcending time and memory. While she does not recognize him initially in the future, his persistent kindness and efforts to save her, such as when they are stranded together on a deserted island, begin to break down her hostility. Her adoptive father, Viktor Ryazan, is another crucial figure; his death and the revelation that he found her with no memories cause her a deep identity crisis. She also shares a long-standing friendship with Bizon Gerafil, a fellow pilot who grew up with her and harbors unrequited romantic feelings for her, which contributes to his intense jealousy of Aoba.

Throughout the series, Hina undergoes a profound transformation. She transitions from a confused soldier seeking to kill Aoba to clear her name, to a confused young woman questioning her own past. Forced into Coupling pilot training due to her exceptional compatibility, she is eventually subjected to brainwashing by a doctor to make her compliant, becoming a lifeless soldier obsessed with avenging her adopted father. It is only when Aoba risks everything to reach out to her that she breaks free from this control. By accepting him as her Coupling partner, all her lost memories return, including those of her past life and the time loops she has endured to save him. This leads her to embrace her feelings and fight alongside him.

As a pilot, Hina is highly elite and her skills are recognized by even the most talented commanders. Her most notable ability is her extraordinary compatibility with the Coupling System, a technology that links two pilots' minds. Her brainwave pattern is a perfect match for Aoba's, reaching one hundred percent. This unique affinity is not just a skill but a fundamental part of their connection; the energy created when they are in proximity is powerful enough to generate a time tunnel, the very phenomenon that began the entire series' cycle of events.
