Description
Miyoshi Seikai Nyūdō is a character from the anime Brave 10. He was a resident of the Izumo shrine before setting out on a journey by himself. He is the adoptive brother of Isanami, as both were raised together by the shrine's head priest. The title Nyūdō in his name indicates that he is a Buddhist monk.
His personality is loud and outspoken, and he is shown to become jealous when Isanami grows closer to the ninja Kirigakure Saizō. He cares for Isanami very deeply and is protective of her. Despite his rough exterior, he is a compassionate person who worries about his comrades and is willing to listen and offer advice.
He is a skilled fighter and serves as a member of the Sanada Ten Braves, a group of warriors assembled by the warlord Sanada Yukimura. In combat, he demonstrates impressive speed, agility, and strength. His background includes a troubled past: he was originally part of a criminal gang called the Marauders that specialized in robbing wealthy travelers and temples. After a particularly violent incident, a kind-hearted abbot saved him and taught him the ways of Buddhism. This experience left Miyoshi with a deep sense of guilt and a strong desire to atone for his past misdeeds. He joins the Ten Braves as a chance to protect the lives he once tried to ruin.
His motivation throughout the story is to find and safeguard Isanami, and through his actions he seeks redemption. He is initially portrayed as a reclusive figure more interested in meditation and spiritual pursuits, but he soon becomes an active and formidable ally.
In appearance, he has tanned skin, is bald, and sports a long white beard and intense blue eyes. He typically wears simple white clothing with a rosary on his wrist and a cross around his neck.
Key relationships include his adoptive sister Isanami, toward whom he is fiercely protective, and Saizō, whom he regards with jealousy initially but later fights alongside as part of the Braves. He also interacts with other members of the group such as Kakei Jūzō, with whom he has a brief conflict over unpaid food early in his journey.
His character development moves from a guilt-ridden former criminal seeking solitude to a loyal and active protector who embraces his role within the Braves, using both his physical prowess and his spiritual teachings to aid his companions.
