Description
Kamanosuke Yuri is a 19-year-old member of the Sanada Ten Braves. He stands 170 cm tall and weighs 52 kg, with pale skin, long red or dark magenta hair typically tied in a ponytail, and green eyes. His most distinctive feature is a prominent green tattoo located near his left eye, which serves as a limiter for his powers, having been placed on him during childhood for reasons that are never fully explained.

Originally introduced as the cruel and hedonistic leader of a band of mountain brigands, Kamanosuke ambushes travelers by disguising himself as an injured woman to trap them on a bridge. His personality is characterized by a bloodthirsty nature, as he finds immense enjoyment in combat and the sight of blood. Official descriptions label him a pervert with a blood fetish, noting that his hobby is stalking another character, Saizo Kirigakure. He exhibits both sadistic and masochistic tendencies, often passionately requesting to be killed after losing a battle. Despite his violent inclinations, he is a healthy optimist, though hints in the story suggest he may have suffered abuse as a child. Around Saizo, Kamanosuke displays tsundere-like behavior, becoming flustered and experiencing a rapid heartbeat when his head is touched.

Kamanosuke consistently and loudly proclaims that he is male, often going to great lengths to prove this to others, yet his feminine appearance causes persistent gender confusion among both his companions and his enemies. He generally refuses to show his body in front of others, and in one instance, he chooses to bathe alone in a cold pond rather than join the other men in a hot spring. An illusion sequence in the story manifests his subconscious desires, portraying him as a princess in love with a male servant, which he reacts to with extreme anger, not because of the feminine role, but because he resents being perceived as a delicate maiden when he prefers the thrill of bloodshed and violence.

Kamanosuke's role in the story begins when he encounters the protagonists Saizo Kirigakure, Isanami, and Kakei Juzo. After capturing Isanami and engaging Saizo in combat, he is defeated. He passionately begs Saizo to kill him, but Isanami intervenes and spares his life. This defeat sparks an obsessive fixation on Saizo, whom he declares to be his toy that no one else is allowed to play with. He later rescues Saizo during a fight against Hattori Hanzo before abandoning his life as a bandit to follow Saizo and eventually join the service of Yukimura Sanada, where he is formally recruited as the representation of wind among the ten Braves.

This relationship with Saizo drives much of his development, as his initial adversarial obsession gradually transforms into a degree of loyal companionship. He develops romantic feelings for Saizo, though he expresses them through a blend of combativeness, possessiveness, and protectiveness rather than traditional affection. His past remains largely undefined, with his memories only going back to his time being raised by mountain bandits. The sequel manga Brave 10 Spiral briefly explores his history, confirming his tattoo acts as a limiter but not elaborating further on his lineage or childhood.

In combat, Kamanosuke wields a kusarigama, a chain-sickle weapon consisting of a sickle attached to a metal chain with a weighted end. He has the ability to manipulate wind, using it to bind opponents or enhance his strikes. His techniques are referred to as Yuri Kusarigama Ogi, and include the Great Whirlwind or Ootsumuchi, which projects powerful cutting whirlwinds from his weapon, as well as other named attacks such as Ichimokuren, Fūjinshō, Kyō Senpū, and Hauri Kama.
