Description
Litchi Faye-Ling is a doctor operating a clinic in Orient Town, a district within the 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsuchi. She formerly worked as a researcher under Kokonoe in Sector Seven alongside Tager. Her life took a sharp turn when a close colleague, Lotte Carmine, mutated into the entity known as Arakune. Driven by guilt and devotion, Litchi left Sector Seven and moved to Orient Town both to treat the local population and to search for a way to restore Lotte to his original form. Her background as a scientist and physician gives her an analytical mind and deep knowledge of alchemy and medicine.

Personality-wise, Litchi presents herself as a sophisticated, courteous, and good-humored individual who is well-liked by nearly everyone she meets. She enjoys gambling, mahjong, and Japanese sake, and when drinking she tends to dispense life advice. However, beneath her easygoing exterior lies a profound sense of responsibility and guilt. She becomes intensely focused, even obsessive, when the subject of Arakune arises, and she pursues his salvation by any means necessary, including through death. This single-minded drive sometimes leads her to make morally ambiguous decisions.

Her primary motivation is to save Lotte Carmine from his monstrous existence as Arakune. She considers it her life mission, and she actively hunts Arakune while also defending the townspeople from his attacks. Over time, she learns that the secret to saving him lies within the Azure, which prompts her to cooperate even with the Novus Orbis Librarium, an organization she once opposed.

In the anime BlazBlue Alter Memory, Litchi appears as a supporting character. She provides medical assistance to Ragna the Bloodedge, analyzing his condition merely by placing a hand over him. She interacts with several key characters. She has a friendly but one-sided relationship with Bang Shishigami: she regards him as a friend, while Bang harbors romantic feelings for her, though she remains unaware of the depth of his affection. She shares a warm rapport with Taokaka and the Kaka clan, who trust her despite their general distrust of humans. She is also connected to Kokonoe and Tager from her Sector Seven days. Her relationship with Arakune is the emotional core of her character; she both fights and seeks to redeem him.

As the story progresses, Litchi becomes increasingly willing to cross ethical lines. Though she begins as a healer and protector, her quest drives her toward darker choices, and at times she is perceived as a threat. Her development highlights the theme of how far one will go for a loved one.

Litchi is a highly capable fighter. She wields a magical staff called Mantenbo, which she can throw, place, and recall at will, allowing her to attack from multiple angles. Her combat style incorporates acrobatic movements, allowing her to somersault across the battlefield and even stand on her staff. She draws power from the Boundary through her panda-shaped hairpiece named Lao Jiu, an object she retrieved from the Boundary that amplifies Seithr and grants her control over the staff. This connection gives her supernatural strength and agility, as well as the ability to channel Boundary energy into her attacks. Additionally, her medical expertise enables her to assess a person's physical condition instantly, a skill she uses to aid allies.
