Miyo Kurahashi is the director of Onmyou Academy and the current head of the Kurahashi family, one of the most powerful noble clans in the world of onmyouji. She is the mother of Genji Kurahashi and the grandmother of Kyouko Kurahashi. In her youth, she served as a miko and personally met Yakou Tsuchimikado, making her one of the few individuals who knew him directly. As a skilled diviner, she contributed to solving numerous extremely difficult cases for the Onmyo Agency. Her divination abilities once allowed her to read the stars and glimpse parts of the future, but these powers faded with age; they later manifested in her granddaughter Kyouko. Miyo also possesses a pet cat that she uses as a messenger to relay information over long distances. Her role in the story is that of an authoritative matriarch who oversees the academy and the affairs of her family, providing guidance and occasionally exerting political influence within the onmyouji underworld. She is known for her dedication to her duties, her protective nature toward her loved ones, and her willingness to continue training even after her former title was lost. She maintains a close familial relationship with her granddaughter Kyouko, and her son Genji serves as the Chief of the Exorcism Division of the Onmyo Agency. Her abilities encompass divination, spiritual communication through her cat familiar, and swordsmanship.
