Wendy Powell is an American voice actress based in Texas, widely recognized for her extensive work in English dubs of anime series. Her career in voice acting began in 2000 when she started working with Funimation, now known as Crunchyroll, on the series Blue Gender. Powell studied theater at Texas Christian University and is also an alumna of the Disney College Program, where she gained experience in editing. In addition to her voice work, she has been a middle school theatre teacher for over a decade.

Powell is known for her versatile vocal range, often providing voices for a wide array of character types, from antagonists to comedic roles and elderly women. One of her most iconic and enduring roles is the homunculus Envy in the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise. She first voiced the character in the 2004 series Fullmetal Alchemist and later reprised the role for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, as well as in various spin-offs and specials like Fullmetal Alchemist: Chibi Party, Fullmetal Alchemist: Seven Homunculi VS State Alchemists, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Premium Collection.

Her filmography includes a broad range of other significant roles across different genres. She voiced the powerful demon Mukuro in YuYu Hakusho, the mole-woman Miss Merry Christmas in One Piece, and the warrior Ilena in Claymore. She also took on the role of the villainous Irma in Birdy the Mighty Decode:02 and the informant Irma in the Birdy the Mighty Decode sequel. In the fantasy series The Tower of Druaga: the Sword of Uruk, she voiced the character Amina.

Powell has continued to be active in modern anime dubs, showcasing her adaptability. She voiced the elderly Kohaku Tsukishiro in Iroduku: The World in Colors, a role she took on in 2022 for the English adaptation. In the 2020 series The Gymnastics Samurai, she played Mari Aragaki. She also provided the voice for the mischievous Yuki in Midnight Occult Civil Servants. Demonstrating her range for more eccentric roles, she voiced one half of the chaotic titular duo, Popuko, in a guest-starring capacity for the Pop Team Epic English dub. Her work also includes the detective Katsuko Momose in Chaos;Child Silent Sky and the role of Izumi Hayakawa in Master of Martial Hearts. More recently, she voiced the character Pan Shengcong in the English dub of the donghua series The Daily Life of the Immortal King. She also reprised her role as Kyo's mother in the 2019 adaptation of Fruits Basket.

Beyond anime, Powell's voice can be heard in video games such as BloodRayne 2 and the Borderlands series, where she played characters like the Watcher in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!. Her decades-long career and hundreds of roles have made her a familiar and respected presence in the voice acting community, leading to frequent guest appearances at anime conventions across North America.
