Description
"Negima!?" is a 26-episode anime series that adapts Ken Akamatsu's manga "Mahou Sensei Negima!" with a distinct narrative approach. The story centers on Negi Springfield, a ten-year-old wizard from Wales who graduates from a magical academy and is sent to Japan to teach English at Mahora Academy. His assignment also involves a secret mission to locate and protect a mysterious artifact. Negi is assigned to Class 2-A, a group of 31 unique female students, each with distinct personalities and backgrounds.
The series blends elements of magic, comedy, and slice-of-life, with a focus on Negi's interactions with his students. Early episodes establish his struggles to balance his teaching responsibilities with his magical duties, often leading to humorous and chaotic situations. As the story progresses, Negi forms deeper bonds with his students, particularly Asuna Kagurazaka, a spirited and tomboyish girl who becomes his roommate and discovers his magical identity. Other key students include Konoka Konoe, a cheerful and kind-hearted girl with a hidden connection to the magical world, and Yue Ayase, a quiet and studious girl who becomes instrumental in helping Negi with his magical research.
The plot takes a more action-oriented turn as Negi and his students encounter various magical threats and adversaries. These include rival mages, ancient artifacts, and supernatural entities that test their growing abilities and teamwork. The series also explores the students' personal lives and relationships, adding depth to their characters and highlighting their growth alongside Negi. Themes of friendship, trust, and perseverance are woven throughout the narrative, as Negi and his students work together to overcome challenges and protect their school.
The anime diverges significantly from the manga, introducing original storylines and character arcs while maintaining the core premise of a young wizard navigating the complexities of teaching and magic. The tone shifts between lighthearted comedy and moments of tension, creating a dynamic viewing experience. Despite its deviations from the source material, "Negima!?" remains an engaging adaptation that captures the spirit of the original work while offering a fresh perspective on its characters and world.

Staffel 1
1Episode 1
Negi Springfield,a ten-year-old mage, arrives at Mahora Academy to teach English to Class 2-A. Asuna Kagurazaka and Konoka Konoe meet him at the school gate. Negi's nervous stuttering and a fumbled handshake create an awkward first encounter. In the classroom, Negi attempts to introduce himself, but his magical bracelet activates and sends a chalkboard crashing to the floor. The students laugh, and Negi flees to a storage closet. He takes out a pocket watch and casts a time-leap spell. The spell rewinds time to his arrival at the Mahora train station. Negi relives his first day multiple times, each loop erasing all previous interactions. He tries acting strict, showing off magic tricks, and imitating a cool teacher, but each loop ends in a new failure. On his final attempt, Negi drops all pretenses and honestly tells the class he is ten years old and wants to be their teacher. The class applauds his sincerity. Asuna notices that Negi already knows her name and sees him levitate a piece of chalk with a spell. Negi admits he is a mage and asks Asuna to keep his secret. She agrees, though she expresses doubt about the burden of hiding his magic. The episode ends with Negi moving into his dorm room, and Asuna promising to watch over him.

15The Class Is Growing Disquiet at the Unexpected Turn of Events. So They're Getting Louder? 15 Points.
Negi and his entire class, except Evangeline and Chachamaru, complete their partnerships and find themselves trapped in an alternate reality. This world replicates the real Earth but contains no people. Takahata-sensei observes as the class debates their next move. The students divide into three groups to survive and search for a way out. Asuna leads the Exploration Group, Ayaka leads the Research Group, and Satsuki leads the Caretaker Group to prepare food. Negi falls into a depressed state over their situation. Asuna, Setsuna, and Konoka encourage him to continue. The Research Group studies a Star Crystal, a key object that may hold answers. Ayaka accidentally knocks the crystal into a pillar during their examination. Negi uses Sayo's ghostly powers to retrieve the crystal from inside the pillar. Asuna watches this and openly questions whether Sayo truly remains a ghost. The episode ends with the three groups still working separately while Takahata, Evangeline, and Chachamaru observe from a distance as Chachamaru prepares ramen.
16Yesterday's Foe is Today's Friend. Good Enough Friends to Have Fights. No Doesn't Always Mean No.
After a dream recalling a childhood memory with Asuna,Ayaka wakes in her Negi-themed room inside the magical world where the group remains stranded. Asuna wanders to the kitchen, where Satsuki gives her an omusubi, but Motsu consumes it while Asuna attempts to sell Chupacabra t-shirts to other girls. Negi joins the research group examining magic books, and Ayaka insists he stay for tea. Asuna arrives and wants Negi to leave with her, but Ayaka refuses, leading to a physical argument. Negi falls and hits his head on a book during the dispute. The girls take him to the school infirmary, where Ako prepares a giant needle to give him an energizing injection. Ako loses her balance and sticks Kamo instead, granting the ermine superpowers and sending him flying out the window. Ayaka then challenges Asuna to a series of competitive games. The first contest requires both girls to hold their breath with faces submerged in water, ending in a tie. The second challenge attaches clothespins to their lips connected by a string; both pins pop off simultaneously for another draw. The third competition has each girl place her head into a tank containing a lizard, and both panic and withdraw at the same time. Nodoka notices the lizard becoming covered in dark magic. Asuna attacks the darkness, but it captures her and makes her drop her harisen weapon. The harisen releases dandelion filaments upon hitting the ground. Ayaka recalls blowing dandelions with Asuna as a child and asks Negi to transform her. Negi activates Ayaka's armor card, giving her a dress, crown, and whip. Ayaka uses the whip to break through the darkness and free Asuna. Negi then destroys the dark magic with his own spell. Ayaka blows dandelion filaments into the wind, and she and Asuna stand together as friends. The group remains in the destroyed magical world with no clear path home.
17Natsumi - Family Will Always Be the Home Run King of Bonds. Don't You Agree? I Don't Understand What You Mean at All - Chizuru.
Asuna and Konoka discover Nekane,Negi's sister, while bathing in the Mahora campus bathhouse. Konoka and Setsuna grow suspicious of Nekane and investigate her further. Their investigation confirms Nekane's identity as the Black Rose Baron, the mysterious figure causing recent disturbances. Nekane's presence at Mahora stems from her search for Negi and her desire to protect him from unseen threats. Ku invokes her Pactio form to confront or assist in the situation. The activation produces unexpected results, altering the immediate balance of power among the group. The revelation forces Negi and his students to reconsider their assumptions about the Black Rose Baron's intentions. Family loyalty emerges as a central motivation, driving both Nekane's actions and the students' responses. The episode resolves the mystery of the Baron's identity but introduces new complications from Ku's unstable Pactio transformation. Nekane's true purpose and the full extent of her powers remain unclear as she withdraws from direct confrontation. The group now faces the challenge of stabilizing Ku's condition while determining whether Nekane remains an ally or a threat.
18There`s a Bastard Who Gets All Happy with Secrets - Then Reveals Them - and It Really Pisses Me Off. Chiu-Chiu Is Going to Get Angry Too! Really Mad!
The class discovers that Nekane acts as the Black Rose Baron, though Nekane herself remains unaware of their knowledge. Konoka and Setsuna meet Takamichi while Negi speaks with Evangeline, and both adults admit they knew Nekane's secret all along. Takamichi explains that Nekane likely understands the key facts about the recurring darkness and its connection to Negi, so he chooses to wait for her to speak voluntarily. During dinner, Asuna asks Nekane directly whether she likes the Black Rose Baron, and Nekane answers yes. Konoka and Setsuna drag Asuna away and remind her not to discuss the Baron with Nekane. To divert Asuna's focus, Konoka asks Takamichi to charm her, but Asuna instead asks Takamichi if he knows Nekane is the Baron, rendering the plan useless. The girls tie up Asuna while she sleeps, but she escapes the next morning. Konoka reveals a Mecha-cabra built by Hakase, places Negi inside as the pilot, and launches it, but the machine explodes. Negi ejects with a parachute and spots Asuna being pulled into a patch of darkness on the ground. He attempts to activate Konoka and Setsuna's Pactio cards but receives defective cards that transform them into small animals. Nodoka, Yue, and Haruka grab Asuna's arms to pull her out, but their strength fails. The Black Rose Baron arrives with a rope, pulls Asuna free, and uses magic to suppress the darkness so Negi can destroy it. Asuna stops the Baron as she tries to leave, but only asks about her costume, never mentioning Nekane's identity. The episode closes with the class uncertain how long they can keep Nekane's secret before Asuna's single-minded curiosity exposes it again.
19'It's great to go back to being a kid again and having fun. Although - I can have fun without going back to being a kid - too.' by Kazumi
Almost all of class 3-A transforms into Suka form, regressing to child-like behavior. Negi Springfield takes on the role of a babysitter for his de-aged students. The young teacher struggles to manage the sudden chaos as the girls act on immature impulses. During the commotion, one of the students accidentally breaks Negi's magical staff. The staff's destruction leaves Negi unable to perform magic effectively. Nekane, Negi's older sister, arrives and observes the situation. She advises Negi to embrace the moment and find enjoyment rather than focusing on control. Following her advice, Negi relaxes his strict supervision and allows the class to play freely. Nekane then repairs the broken staff using her own abilities. The restored staff returns Negi's magical capabilities to full function. The child-like students gradually return to their normal states after the playful interlude. Negi regains his composure and his equipment, but the incident reveals how easily his students' transformations can disrupt classroom order.
20They Say - Bigger the Blander - But That's Not Necessarily True in Actuality.
Evangeline,Chachamaru, and Takahata discuss recent events when Evangeline develops a severe headache and leaves the meeting. After resting, Evangeline returns transformed into a giant of approximately fifty feet. Asuna, wearing the Black Rose Baron gear, prevents the giant Evangeline from crushing Negi underfoot. The giant Evangeline climbs onto the school building's roof to sleep. The building repeatedly shows signs of structural collapse, raising urgency among the students. The girls hold a meeting that produces no actionable plans until Nodoka suggests using her artifact. Negi draws the Armor Card from a random selection, enabling Nodoka to assist. The group determines that allowing Evangeline to sleep off her condition remains the only solution. Negi pilots the Mechachupa unit to address the situation, but the attempt fails. Chachamaru uses a Japanese flute to wake the giant Evangeline. The awakened Evangeline follows Chachamaru away from the unstable building to safety. By evening, Evangeline returns to her normal child-sized form. The school building sustains damage that requires assessment, and the students face the task of managing the aftermath.
21Mana's Secret
Mana Tatsumiya leaves Mahora Academy without informing anyone. Negi Springfield and Asuna Kagurazaka notice her absence and follow her trail to a secluded forest. They discover Mana confronting a large, horned demon. Mana reveals her past as a demon hunter trained since childhood by her late mentor. The demon seeks revenge against Mana for killing its kin. Mana's custom rifle jams during the fight, leaving her defenseless. Negi casts a barrier spell to block the demon's attack. Asuna charges in and strikes the demon with her artifact, the Ensign. The demon weakens, and Mana delivers the final shot with a backup pistol. Mana admits she tried to leave to protect her classmates from her dangerous past. Negi and Asuna convince her to return, emphasizing that they face threats together. Mana rejoins the class just as Chao Lingshen activates a new device that warps time and space.
22Aiya! Something Strange Is Beginning to Happen! This Must Surely Be the End of the World!
Students working in the school garden discover carrots and radishes grown into large,hand-like shapes. In the laboratory, the destroyed Mechacabra reassembles itself using dark energy and pursues Chao and Hakase. Negi activates Chao's Armor Card, allowing her to blast the metal creature into pieces that fly out a window. Outside, a group of students has dug a pit to capture the creature Bonge Bonge, and the Mechacabra fragments fall directly into it. The Mechacabra emerges from the pit fully reformed and retreats when it realizes Negi is not inside. Chizuru reveals the pattern behind the student possessions: the entity uses the Lunar Zodiac to determine its targets. Negi locates Nekane, who has changed into her Black Rose Baron costume to confront Motsu and Shichimi. Takamichi and Chachamaru arrive and identify the Master of Darkness as Anya, Negi's childhood friend. Nekane removes her mask and confirms Anya stole the Star Crystal out of loneliness and fear of losing to Negi after hearing Nekane praise his progress. Negi destroys a fairy, which causes all dispersed Star Crystal fragments to merge into a single entity called the Shriek of the Soul. Evangeline approaches, possessed by the Darkness, and absorbs all remaining dark energy into her body. When Evangeline speaks, Anya's voice emerges from her, revealing that Anya now controls Eva's form.
23Wait - You Can't Do That - Negi! That's Right - Because We're Your Partners!
Anya possesses Evangeline through the Star Crystal and turns Takahata-sensei and Nekane into stone. The possessed Eva then kisses Asuna, transforming her into darkness and turning her against Negi. Anya-Eva continues petrifying several other students as Setsuna and some girls flee the scene. Negi sends a magical message to all his students, warning them that Eva is possessed and hunting them. Some girls hide in ineffective locations, such as between vending machines, and get petrified regardless. The remaining unpetrified students cast a beginner-level spell together, and their combined magical force successfully traps Anya-Eva. Chachamaru blocks an attacking Asuna to protect Negi from harm. Negi kisses the possessed Anya-Eva to perform a pactio, which breaks the Star Crystal's control over her. Chachamaru then demands and receives a kiss from Negi, completing pactio contracts with every member of the class. All the magical personifications vanish, but when Negi reaches for the Star Crystal, the jewel pulls him inside.
24Professor Negi - It Appears This Is the Climax. Let's All Go Home Together - Negi!
Anya's lament and loneliness summon a darkness that traps Evangeline and petrifies the rest of the class. Negi forms temporary contracts with all 31 students to gather enough power for the rescue. He successfully frees Evangeline from the dark prison and breaks the control over Asuna. When Negi touches the Star Crystal that fell from Evangeline,he gets pulled into an illusory space alone. Inside this false world, he encounters fake copies of his classmates. Negi relies on his own eyes and heart to recognize them as impostors. The real classmates then arrive in the form of magical cards to reinforce him. Borrowing some power from the Thousand Master, Negi manages to save Anya and resolve the crisis. The Star Crystal incident concludes as the illusion space collapses. Evangeline receives consistently favorable treatment throughout the resolution, and comedic moments punctuate the serious climax. The episode balances the high-stakes rescue with character-driven interactions, particularly for the quieter students. The remaining two episodes will return to daily life for the epilogue.
25And with That - the Case Is Closed!
After returning from the magical world,Anya avoids contact with the rest of the class. She flees, and Negi, Asuna, Setsuna, and Konoka pursue her. Anya locates a small remnant of darkness and dispels it using her sensitivity gained from the Star Crystal's possession. A much larger piece of darkness captures Negi and the three girls. Anya lacks the power to dispel this larger fragment alone, but she creates an opening for them to escape. Negi activates the Pactio cards belonging to Asuna, Setsuna, and Konoka. With the four working together and Anya's assistance, they dispel the last remaining darkness. The class has secretly prepared a welcome party for Anya back at the school. Anya presents Asuna with a baby Chupacabra as a gift during the celebration. The party resolves the immediate tension, but the episode closes with unresolved hints that another event will follow.
26I Will Not Say That I Am Lonely! Because - I Have Faith That We Will Surely Meet Again!
The class releases the Chupacabra back into the wild, returning it to its natural habitat. Negi senses his father Nagi's presence nearby and insists on searching alone. The students refuse to let him go by himself, and Nekane convinces Negi to trust his partners. Negi transforms all 31 classmates into their Pactio forms, producing three suka cards, five armor cards, and the rest as cosplay cards. The group splits into smaller teams to cover more ground across Mahora Academy. Negi leads Nekane, Asuna, and Anya, and they discover a black rose lying on the ground. He determines the rose might lead to his father, so he asks Fumika to use her magnifying glass that sees the future. The magnifying glass cannot locate Nagi, so Ayaka employs her enhanced sense of smell to trace a scent to the lake shore. Negi runs across the water and sees a figure resembling his father, but the Thousand Master vanishes as he approaches. Motsu and Shichimi take Nagi's place and explain that Nagi served them and now asks them to serve Negi. Nagi's final message tells his son to grow up with vigor, which makes Negi collapse onto his knees and cry. Negi rises with renewed determination to become a stronger mage like his father, then returns to Wales alongside his 31 partners.
