Description
Fumika Narutaki is a student at Mahora Academy, attending class 2/3-A alongside her identical twin sister, Fuka Narutaki, of whom she is the younger sibling. Physically, Fumika is notably small, standing at 128 cm tall, and shares many traits with her sister, including pink hair and a birthday on December 6th. However, she is most often distinguished by her blue eyes, in contrast to Fuka's brighter pink or violet eyes. Her blood type is A, and she lives in the girls' dormitory.
In terms of personality, Fumika is presented as the more cautious and reserved of the Narutaki twins, often acting as the sensible counterpart to her sister's mischievous and energetic nature. She frequently tries to dissuade Fuka from her pranks and troublesome ideas, though she tends to go along with them anyway. Her personal hobby is cleaning, a preference that leads her to volunteer for the Beautification Committee. She also enjoys sweet foods and dislikes things that are long or hairy, such as caterpillars. Her speech in some adaptations is marked by a habit of ending her sentences with the polite copula desu.
Fumika's motivations are closely tied to her desire to support her friends and be involved in the adventures surrounding her teacher, Negi Springfield. Along with her sister, she is a member of the Strolling Club, which makes her quite knowledgeable about the school's grounds and locations. Her role in the story is often as part of a pair with Fuka, where they serve as a source of comic relief and youthful energy. They consider themselves to be undergoing ninjutsu training from their roommate, the skilled kunoichi Kaede Nagase, and are occasionally seen wearing ninja outfits during various events. Her abilities in this area, however, remain rudimentary, mostly limited to eavesdropping and basic infiltration attempts, such as when they unsuccessfully tried to win a trip to England by ambushing Kaede to steal her badge.
Fumika's key relationships are, first and foremost, with her twin sister Fuka. Their dynamic is central to her character, with Fumika often playing the voice of reason. She also shares a strong bond with Kaede, whom she looks up to as a teacher of ninja skills. As a student in Negi's class, she holds a degree of affection for him, as do many of her classmates. A significant aspect of her character is the unique Pactio contract she shares with Fuka and Negi. Due to a botched ritual where both twins kissed a copy of Negi simultaneously, they share a single, unusual Pactio card called Geminae Simulatrices. The abilities granted by this Pactio vary across different adaptations. In the original Negima! anime, the twins gain matching ninja outfits and the ability to perform shadow doppelganger techniques together. In the Negima!? anime, Fumika's personal Pactio outfit transforms her into a Western-style detective, complete with a magnifying glass that has the power to glimpse the future of an object.
Fumika's character portrayal undergoes some development across different media. While the manga and the Negima!? anime maintain her distinct cautious and reserved personality, the original Negima! anime portrays her as being much more similar to her sister, becoming equally mischievous. In the series' epilogue, she and Fuka are shown to have later married and had daughters, becoming known as the biggest Cinderella stories of their class and residing near the old capital of Ariadne.
