Description
Makie Sasaki is a fictional character from the Negima! series, originally created by Ken Akamatsu. She is the 16th student in Japanese alphabetical order of Class 2/3-A at Mahora Academy. Her seat number is 16, her birthday is March 7, and her blood type is O. Makie has light pink hair and green eyes, stands 152 centimeters tall, and has measurements of 72-53-75. She is a member of the school’s Gymnastics Club and specializes in rhythmic gymnastics, a talent she actively practices and competes in.

Makie is an energetic, cheerful, and outgoing girl, but she is also somewhat childish and not particularly academically gifted. She is one of the five lowest-scoring students in her class, a group informally known as the Baka Rangers, where she is referred to as Baka Pink due to her pink hair. Her personality is friendly and extroverted, and she has a fondness for cute things, including her young teacher Negi Springfield, whom she often calls Negi-kun. Her attachment to Negi is more about finding him adorable rather than a deep romantic interest, though she does develop a small crush on him as the series progresses.

Despite frequently spending time around Negi, Makie remains unaware that he is a mage and that supernatural events occur around him. In the original manga, she starts as a minor character but gains more focus later in the story, particularly through her interactions with Negi and her involvement in school life. Her primary role is as a supporting student who participates in various school adventures and comedic situations.

In the Negima!? anime adaptation, Makie’s character is portrayed slightly differently. She retains her cheerful and kind nature, but her role shifts more toward comic relief. She is often teased or made fun of by her roommate Ayaka Yukihiro, though the two maintain a friendly relationship and share a dormitory. Her dynamic with Ayaka adds to the lighthearted atmosphere of the series.

Makie’s notable abilities lie in her rhythmic gymnastics skills, which she uses in both mundane school competitions and occasionally in more fantastical contexts. She does not possess any magical powers or combat abilities of her own. Her development throughout the story is mainly social and emotional, as she becomes more involved with her classmates and grows slightly more mature, though she remains fundamentally cheerful and a bit naive.
