Caitlin Glass
Description
Caitlin Glass is an American voice actress, ADR (Adaptation Dialogue Replacement) director, and scriptwriter, widely recognized for her extensive work in English-language dubs of Japanese anime series and video games. Born Caitlin Tiffany Glass on November 16, 1981, in Washington, D.C., she grew up in the San Diego area and attended school in Escondido, California. She later graduated magna cum laude from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts in 2004.
Her entry into the voice acting industry occurred during her college years when she took a tour of the Funimation studio. She was hired on the same day by voice director Eric Vale, marking the start of a long and prolific career. Her initial roles included small parts in the long-running series Case Closed, with her first significant credited role being Hiyono Yuizaki in Spiral: The Bonds of Reasoning.
Glass is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Winry Rockbell in the English adaptations of the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise. She initially auditioned for several other characters but was cast as Winry after reading a single line of dialogue, a decision influenced by her energetic performance in Spiral. She voiced the character in the original 2003 series, its sequel film Conqueror of Shamballa, and later reprised the role for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and its associated films. Another defining role came in 2008 when she both directed the English dub of the beloved comedy Ouran High School Host Club and voiced its protagonist, Haruhi Fujioka.
Throughout her career, Glass has balanced performing with extensive work behind the microphone as a director and scriptwriter. Her directorial credits are numerous and include major titles such as the long-running One Piece (for which she also voices Princess Nefertari Vivi), Suzuka (her first major directing project in 2006), Noragami Aragoto, Show by Rock!!, Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, and many others. Her work as an ADR scriptwriter has contributed to the English adaptations of series like Love Live! School Idol Project, Yuki Yuna is a Hero, and Durarara!!x2.
In front of the microphone, her filmography is vast and spans a wide variety of genres. Some of her most prominent and recurring roles include the pink-haired, acid-quirk user Mina Ashido in My Hero Academia, the determined Petra Ral in Attack on Titan, the brilliant detective Kyoko Kirigiri in the Danganronpa series, and the loyal Miho Amakata in the Free! franchise. She also voices Miria Harvent in Baccano!, Satellizer el Bridget in Freezing, Evergreen in Fairy Tail, Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen in the Strike Witches series, and Yakumo Tsukamoto in School Rumble, among countless others. Her versatility extends to roles such as the young Damian Desmond in the Spy x Family film Code: White, the cheerful Ariane in Skeleton Knight in Another World, and the intelligent Natalia in Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut.
Beyond anime, Glass has an extensive portfolio in video game voice acting. She is a longtime voice of the character Cammy White in the Street Fighter series, including Street Fighter IV, V, and 6, as well as its spin-offs. She also voices the character Elma in Xenoblade Chronicles X and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Rose in Tales of Zestiria, and characters in major franchises like Borderlands, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Smite.
Based in Dallas, Texas, and married to Tony Patterson, Glass has also worked as an ESL teacher in Spain. Her dual-threat career as both a performer and a creative leader in dubbing has made her a central and influential figure in the English anime localization industry for over two decades.
