Description
"Gekidol" is set in a world recovering from a mysterious disaster known as the "Hollow Earth" incident, which caused widespread destruction and societal upheaval. The story centers on Seria Morino, a young girl who loses her sister, Alice, in the aftermath of the disaster. Struggling with grief and a sense of purposelessness, Seria encounters a group of performers known as the Alice in Theater Project (AITP), a theatrical troupe that combines traditional stage performances with cutting-edge augmented reality (AR) technology. The AITP aims to revive hope and entertainment in a world still reeling from the catastrophe.
Seria joins the AITP, initially as a stagehand, but her latent talent and determination soon propel her into the spotlight as a performer. The series explores her growth as she navigates the challenges of the theatrical world, including rivalries, personal insecurities, and the pressure to live up to her sister's legacy. Alongside Seria, the story introduces other key members of the troupe, such as the ambitious and driven Rena Nanami, the enigmatic and skilled Kagura Mizuki, and the supportive but competitive Saki Mizusawa. Each character brings their own struggles and motivations, contributing to the dynamic within the group.
As the AITP gains popularity, the narrative delves into the broader implications of their performances, which serve as a form of escapism and healing for a society still grappling with loss. The series also hints at deeper mysteries surrounding the Hollow Earth incident and its connection to the AITP's AR technology, adding an element of intrigue to the otherwise character-driven plot. Themes of resilience, camaraderie, and the transformative power of art are woven throughout the story, as the characters strive to create a brighter future through their performances. The series balances personal drama with moments of spectacle, showcasing the fusion of traditional theater and futuristic technology that defines the AITP's unique approach to entertainment.
