Kaiji Tang

Description
Kaiji Tang is a Chinese-born voice actor based in Los Angeles, California, recognized for his extensive work in English dubs of anime and video games. Born in Shanghai on January 25, 1984, he graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a degree in theatre. He moved to Los Angeles in 2007 to pursue commercial work, appearing in advertisements for brands like Garmin GPS and The Discovery Channel. His entry into voice acting was unplanned; after a small role in the film Zombie Strippers, he auditioned for a dubbing studio he learned about through a podcast and was hired, leading to a successful career in voiceover.

Tang has become a prominent figure in anime dubbing, lending his voice to a wide array of characters. He is perhaps best known as the voice of the powerful and charismatic Satoru Gojo in the immensely popular series Jujutsu Kaisen and its film Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Another significant role is Osamu Dazai in Bungo Stray Dogs. His filmography also includes the titular Gearless Joe in Megalobox and its sequel, Sanemi Shinazugawa in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Hendrickson in The Seven Deadly Sins, Archer in Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, and Guts in Berserk. He also voiced Lu Bu in Record of Ragnarok, Amidamaru in Shaman King, and characters in series such as Vinland Saga, The God of High School, and BEASTARS, showcasing his range across different genres and character types.

In addition to his anime work, Tang has a prolific career in video game voice acting. He is the voice of the protagonist Ichiban Kasuga in the Yakuza series (starting with Yakuza: Like a Dragon) and the titular character in Detective Pikachu. His other notable game roles include Owain/Odin in the Fire Emblem series, Yasuhiro Hagakure and Gonta Gokuhara in the Danganronpa series, Gaius Worzel in The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series, Jann Lee in the Dead or Alive series, and Munehisa Iwai in Persona 5.

Tang has expressed a personal connection to his work, noting that voicing Big G (Takeshi "Gian" Goda) in the Doraemon franchise was a full-circle moment, as reading Doraemon comics was one of his earliest memories. He hosts a YouTube channel called Voices of Gaming. Outside of his performances, Tang has been open about the working conditions in the voice acting industry, discussing the challenges of cold-reading for dubs and noting that he supports himself through a variety of voiceover work beyond anime, including audio description and educational narration. He has been married to fellow voice actress Marcy Edwards since 2017.
