TV-Series
Description
Korn is a member of the Black Organization, a secret criminal syndicate, and serves as a sniper within its assassination division. He operates under the code name Korn, derived from an alcoholic beverage. He is the partner of Chianti and regularly works alongside her on assignments. He wears thick glasses and a hat, and his attire is more tactical than the formal clothing of some other members.
Korn has a cold and asocial personality. He rarely interacts with other members unless spoken to and is almost always seen frowning, giving him a robotic appearance. His speech is short and marked by many pauses. Although he is less impatient than Chianti, he enjoys killing and expresses disappointment when he does not get the opportunity to shoot. He is highly skilled at long‑range sniping, with an effective range of up to 550 yards. It is uncertain whether he can reliably hit a target at 600 yards, and he is unable to shoot at 650 yards. His abilities are inferior to those of Shuichi Akai, who can accurately fire at 700 yards or more. Korn typically uses an M24 SWS sniper rifle. He has also demonstrated the ability to pilot a helicopter.
Korn’s primary motivation is to carry out his assignments efficiently. He also harbors a deep resentment toward Vermouth, believing she caused the death of fellow sniper Calvados. This grudge leads him to wish for Vermouth’s death, a sentiment he shares with Chianti. He follows orders from higher‑ranking members such as Gin and occasionally Rum. When taking direct orders from Rum, he and Chianti are noticeably less serious than when working under Gin.
Throughout the series, Korn appears in multiple major story arcs and films. He was present during the planning of a politician’s assassination, participated in the pursuit of FBI agent Camel, and took part in the operation to eliminate FBI members on Umizarujima. He also played a role in the transport of Kir and was deployed during confrontations with the FBI. In the films, he has sniped a British spy, supported operations as a helicopter pilot, and been part of large‑scale missions alongside Gin and Chianti. Despite his frequent appearances, he often awaits orders to shoot and does not always fire.
Korn’s closest relationship is with his partner Chianti. They work together effectively, and Chianti confides in him about her hatred for Vermouth. There are indications that Chianti has romantic feelings for him, though they are not in a romantic relationship. Korn knew Calvados and shares Chianti’s anger over his death. He shows a degree of camaraderie with Vodka and respects Gin’s authority. He also took direct orders from Rum in a later case.
Korn undergoes little personal change throughout the series. He remains a loyal and efficient enforcer for the organization. His memory for faces is highlighted when he recognizes FBI agent Camel from a photograph sent by Rum two years earlier. He continues to be deployed as a sniper in major confrontations, and his role as a consistent member of the Black Organization’s assassination division persists.
