Kaori Mizuhashi
Description
Kaori Mizuhashi is a veteran Japanese voice actress born on August 28, 1974, in Sapporo, Hokkaido. She is affiliated with the talent agency Arts Vision and has been active in the industry since 1996.
Her interest in voice acting began in childhood, where she enjoyed reading dialogue aloud, and was further inspired during her junior high school years by the boom of voice actors like Megumi Hayashibara. After winning second place in the DRACON '92 contest for aspiring voice actors and anime singers, she moved to Tokyo following high school graduation. She trained at the Haikyo Voice Actors Studio and the Japan Narration Acting Institute before joining Arts Vision. Her debut role was in the 1996 drama CD The Legend of Valkyrie, followed by her first video game role as Manami Orikura in First Kiss☆Monogatari. Her first regular anime role came in 2000 as Machi in Hiwou War Chronicles, and she gained wider recognition in 2001 for her first leading role as Kasumi Haruno in the NHK anime Kasumin.
Mizuhashi is known for her versatile vocal range, often playing cute and innocent girls but also capable of portraying cheeky girls, timid boys, and more unique characters. Some of her most notable and long-running roles include Yūno Scrya and later Vivio Takamachi in the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise, Miyako in the Hidamari Sketch series, and Minami Shimada in Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts. She has a particularly strong association with Nippon Ichi Software, frequently voicing characters in their games, most iconically the title character Laharl in the Disgaea series. Another landmark role is Mami Tomoe in the critically acclaimed Puella Magi Madoka Magica, a character to whom she has expressed a deep personal attachment. She also voices the enigmatic Ougi Oshino in the Monogatari series and Tio Plato in The Legend of Heroes: Trails series, reflecting her enthusiasm for Falcom games.
Beyond animation, Mizuhashi has an extensive career in video games, with roles such as Navi in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Nisa in Hyperdimension Neptunia, and, more recently, Kuki Shinobu in Genshin Impact and multiple characters in Arknights. She has also contributed to original video animations (OVAs) like Akane Maniax and Alice in Deadly School, and provided voices for anime films such as the Laid-Back Camp Movie. Her work continues into the 2020s with roles in series like Gekidol and the aforementioned Aru Asa Dummy Head Mike ni Natteita Ore-kun no Jinsei. Mizuhashi is also known for her hobby of illustration, which she shares on her personal website, and for collecting dolls.
