Description
Lili is a musical fairy, known in the series as a Fata, who resides at Seiso Academy. He has a youthful, childlike appearance with short blonde hair, violet eyes, and long pointed ears, and he possesses small blue wings that allow him to fly. In the distant past, Lili assisted the original founder of the academy, blessing the school with his presence. Over time, however, he became visible only to a select few individuals, making most students and staff unaware of his existence.

In terms of personality, Lili is mischievous, playful, and persistent. He often speaks with a distinctive verbal tic, ending his sentences with the phrase "no da." He takes delight in surprising others and can be quite relentless when he sets his mind on something. Despite his capricious nature, he genuinely cares about music and the people who can perceive him, and he acts as a gentle if unconventional guide.

Lili's primary motivation is to share the joy of music and to find individuals who can see and interact with him. This leads him to choose Kahoko Hino as the recipient of a magical violin—an enchanted instrument that allows anyone to play beautiful music as long as they play with sincere emotion. He also gives a ring to Kanade Kohinata, another character who can perceive him, which serves a similar purpose in a later story arc.

Lili's role in the story is that of a catalyst. His decision to bestow the magic violin upon Kahoko and secretly enroll her in the school's prestigious musical competition sets the entire plot in motion. He appears intermittently to offer encouragement, tease the characters, or nudge events in a certain direction, but he rarely intervenes directly once the competition is underway. His presence is a constant reminder of the magical and whimsical elements woven into the otherwise realistic setting of the academy.

Key relationships include his connection with Kahoko Hino, whom he first encounters when she is running late to class. Because she is one of the very few people who can see him, he takes a special interest in her growth as a musician and as a person. He also interacts with Kanade Kohinata in the sequel, giving her a similar enchanted ring. Lili does not form deep bonds with the other characters, as most cannot even perceive him, but he observes them all with amusement and occasional fondness.

In terms of development, Lili remains largely static throughout the series. He does not undergo significant personal change, as his role is more that of a whimsical instigator and fairy guide than a character with a personal arc. However, his initial decision to involve Kahoko in the competition stems partly from his loneliness—he craves connection with those who can see him—and he seems to find fulfillment in watching her journey.

Lili's notable abilities include fairy magic that allows him to create enchanted musical instruments and to make himself visible or invisible at will. He can fly, and his magical violin is the source of the series' central premise: it enables a person with no formal training to produce moving music from the heart. This ability highlights his role as a bridge between the ordinary world and the world of music, and it underscores the theme that genuine emotion matters more than technical skill.
