Andrea Kwan

Description
Andrea Kwan is a former Canadian voice actress known for her extensive work in English language dubs of anime produced for Animax Asia. Her career, which spanned approximately fourteen years, was based out of Hong Kong where she provided voices for numerous prominent series.

Kwan's entry into voice acting occurred after she moved from Canada to Hong Kong in 1997. Lacking formal acting training at the outset, she developed her skills through on-the-job experience and hard work. In addition to performing, her responsibilities in Hong Kong included voice direction and managing studio operations at Omni Productions, a notable dubbing studio. She has since returned to Toronto, Canada.

Her body of work is extensive and includes leading roles in many well-known anime series. She is recognized for voicing the title character Sakura Kinomoto in the Animax Asia dub of Cardcaptor Sakura. She also voiced Conan Edogawa in the Animax version of Case Closed and Kagome Higurashi in InuYasha. In a similar vein, she took on the role of Conan in the Animax dub of Future Boy Conan. Other significant lead performances include Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Juliet in Romeo x Juliet.

In the series Kaiketsu Zorori, she voiced the character Tail. Her role as Little My is confirmed for the film Tanoshii Moomin Ikka: Moomin Tani no Suisei. The character of Pinoko is listed as one of her roles in both the Black Jack television series and the special Black Jack Special: The 4 Miracles of Life. For Ginban Kaleidoscope, her credits include the characters Dominique Miller, Kyouko Shitou, and Yohko Sakurano. She voiced both Iyo and Shimako Shima in Animal Yokocho. Her role as Miyuki Koizumi in Dokkiri Doctor is also verified, where she starred alongside fellow voice actor Russell Wait. She voiced the title character Comet in Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san and took on the role of Remi in Sans Famille. Kwan voiced the protagonist Emma in both seasons of Emma: A Victorian Romance, as well as the character Monica Mildrake in the second act. Her portrayal of Ai Enma in Hell Girl: Two Mirrors is confirmed, as is the role of Shōko Nogami in Living for the Day After Tomorrow. The characters Satsuki Miyanoshita in Ghost Stories and both Mami Shimura and Reiko Takagi in Graduation are also part of her extensive voice portfolio.

Throughout her career in Hong Kong, Kwan frequently collaborated with other voice talents working out of the Omni Productions studio, such as Russell Wait. Her work is characterized by a wide vocal range, often taking on multiple characters within a single series, including both male and female roles. Examples include playing the young Goku and Chi-Chi in Dragon Ball, the female Ranma and Kasumi Tendo in Ranma ½, and Nia Teppelin in Gurren Lagann. In addition to acting, she also served as the dubbing director for the English version of Inazuma Eleven. Andrea Kwan's contributions represent a significant body of work from a pivotal era of anime localization for Southeast Asian audiences.
