Description
Akito and Agito Wanijima are two distinct personalities residing within the same body, making them a singular yet complex character in the world of Air Treck. They are the Fang King of the Bloody Road, a title that speaks to their aggressive and powerful riding style. Originally, they were members of the Wind SWAT team, where they were treated as a tool by their older brother, Kaito, before being saved by the protagonist, Ikki, and subsequently joining the team Kogarasumaru.
The two personalities switch control of their shared body by moving an eyepatch from one eye to the other. Akito is the gentler, innocent, and non-violent personality. He is timid and feminine in both behavior and appearance. Before the trauma of being used as a weapon, Akito was the original Fang King, but he became disgusted with the violence and lost his ability to use Air Trecks. His motivation is to find peace and affection, which he directs strongly toward Ikki. He often tries to kiss, bathe, and sleep next to him, developing a child-like crush on the person who showed him freedom.
In stark contrast, Agito is the violent, foul-mouthed, and bloodthirsty personality. He was created by Akito as a defense mechanism to cope with the mental stress of being a pacifist forced into brutal combat. Agito handles all the fighting and is a ruthless strategist, often referred to as a shark due to his nature. He uses four hooks dangling from straps on his legs to tear apart opponents and initially resents being part of Kogarasumaru, though he grows to respect Ikki's strength and views the team as comrades, even if he maintains an aloof exterior. While he acts independently, his primary motivation is to protect the vulnerable Akito.
A third personality, Lind Wanijima, emerges later. Claiming to be the original personality of the body, Lind is a Brain Charger, an individual with enhanced mental capabilities, and is much stronger than the other two. Lind's identity is complex, revealed to be a copy of Gazelle, the first Thorn Queen, making the character the child of Kaito and Gazelle. Ruthless and disdainful, Lind refers to Akito and Agito as "babies" and awakens only when the body is in grave danger. Unlike the others, Lind can utilize the defensive Sonia Road in addition to the Bloody Road.
In the story, the character serves as a powerhouse and initial rival-turned-ally for Kogarasumaru, providing the team with significant tactical knowledge and combat strength. Key relationships include their brother Kaito, who serves as an antagonist and manipulator; Ikki, who represents freedom and friendship; and Yayoi Nakayama, who becomes their tuner, unlocking the full potential of their Air Treck Regalia after Akito could only keep it barely operational.
The character develops from a broken tool of the Wind SWAT into a loyal member of Kogarasumaru. While Akito learns to come out of his shell, Agito learns to trust others. The revelation of Lind forces both to confront the truth of their origin. Notably, the Fang Regalia, when fully tuned, allows the user to release a pressurized "Fang," a shockwave created by instant acceleration and braking that vacuums and compresses air into a piercing attack. However, this Regalia sacrifices vertical jumping power, preventing flight in exchange for immense offensive capability.
