Description
Sara Werec starts as a contented, high-achieving student at the Grabera Spatial Armoured Infantry Research Institute. Orphaned following the deaths of her parents, James and Annie Werec, she dedicates herself to reuniting with her celebrated older brother, Ralph, a Reasoner deployed far away. This goal fuels her rise to become a top graduate and skilled Strain pilot.

Her world collapses when Ralph, commanding a Deague assault, obliterates her academy, murders her friends and instructors, and destroys her essential biomechanical Mimic. Witnessing his betrayal and near-indifference inflicts severe psychological trauma, manifesting as post-traumatic stress disorder. She cuts her hair, adopts the alias "Sara Cruz," and transfers to another academy. There, she pilots inferior Gambee units, enduring bullying and isolation while driven solely by the need to uncover the truth behind Ralph's actions.

Recovery begins when she discovers a doll-like Mimic named Emily in storage. Defying expectations, Sara synchronizes with Emily, regaining her ability to pilot a Strain—the Ram-Dass unit. She forms a profound bond with Emily, seeing her as both surrogate family and a clue to Ralph’s motives. Tentatively, she connects with members of the Spatial Armor Division, including Lottie Gelh, Carrisford "Carris" Radofrics, and Lavinia Reberth, though she remains largely withdrawn.

Later, Sara uncovers the truth through Emily's memories: Ralph was psychically corrupted by an alien girl from a telepathic race persecuted by the Galactic Union. This explains his defection and genocidal actions, though Sara struggles to reconcile it with her trauma. In the climax, she confronts Ralph, now weakened and fragmented. Despite his fleeting return to his former self—expressing pride and entrusting Emily to her—Sara impales and kills him. She shows no remorse during the act, though later speaks to his corpse with ambiguous sympathy. The series concludes with her and Emily surviving on an unknown planet, Ralph’s legacy unresolved and his name still tarnished.

Physically, Sara has blonde hair—initially long, then cut short after her trauma—and blue eyes. Her attire shifts from an academy uniform to simpler clothing: a white shirt, brown pants, gray boots, and a yellow coat. Her Strain pilot suit is a muted blue.
