Description
Methode is a first-class mage who appears in the story during the First-Class Mage Examination arc, which she undertakes alongside Frieren and Fern. She originates from a demon-hunting clan in the Northern Plateau, a background that has shaped her into a battle-hardened and highly versatile combatant. After passing the exam, she continues to work under the ancient mage Serie, later receiving assistance from Frieren's party in subjugating demons in the Rufen Region. Her personality is calm, composed, and professional in battle, and she is confident enough to describe herself as talented, particularly in stalling and restraining opponents. She possesses a broad repertoire of magic that includes combat spells, binding techniques, mental manipulation, detection, recovery magic, and even the ability to use the rare goddess magic by reading scriptures. This versatility makes her an adaptable and effective mage in various situations. One of her most distinctive traits is an unabashed fondness for small, cute individuals, especially elves: she is openly captivated by both Serie and Frieren, often wanting to pat their heads and embrace them, though Serie does not enjoy such contact and a fellow mage named Genau imposes a daily ten-minute limit on this affectionate behavior. Her motivation appears to be a combination of loyalty to Serie and a personal drive to combat demons, a goal she pursues with pragmatic intelligence. In her interactions with other characters, she treats Frieren and Fern as respected allies, and she works well in coordination during combat. Over the course of the story, there is little visible change in her demeanor; she remains a consistently capable and eccentric mage whose blend of formidable skill and endearing quirks distinguishes her among the first-class mages.
