Description
Airi Kojima is a central figure in the fourth episode of the anime, known as The Witch of Gluttony. Her background is rooted in a deeply personal trauma that manifests from a painful breakup. She was abandoned by her ex-boyfriend, who cruelly stated he was leaving her for a younger and thinner girl, specifically criticizing her for becoming chubby. This rejection triggered a severe psychological struggle, causing her to develop bulimia nervosa, a condition she battles throughout her story.

Personality-wise, Airi initially comes across as reserved and distant, but this exterior conceals a more sensitive and caring nature. She is deeply empathetic and often places the needs of others before her own, a trait that stems from a strong desire to be loved and accepted. However, this kindness is overshadowed by a destructive self-image. Despite maintaining a slim figure, she holds a negative perception of her body, believing she lacks grace and is overweight, which fuels her disordered eating patterns of binge eating followed by purging. Her happiest memories are tied to her grandmother's kitchen, a place of warmth and delicious food, which stands in stark contrast to her current troubled relationship with eating.

Airi's role in the story is as a Witch, a person whose deep-seated emotional problems have manifested a powerful influence within the dream world. When the protagonist, Haruto Tsukishiro, enters her dream, he finds her as the Witch of Gluttony, a seemingly carefree toddler-like queen reigning over the Land of Donuts, a vibrant realm overflowing with sweets. Her key relationships are defined by this trauma. Her ex-boyfriend is the catalyst for her suffering, while the memory of her grandmother represents the innocence and joy she has lost. Haruto acts as an outsider who enters her dream to help her confront her inner demons.

Her character development involves a direct confrontation with her illness. In the real world, she seems unaware of the full extent of her blackout episodes related to binging and purging, but in the dream world, her cheerful witch persona cracks, revealing the pain and emptiness behind her gluttony. With intervention, she is able to face the root of her self-hatred and begin a path toward recovery, overcoming her crisis before it becomes completely uncontrollable.

Notable abilities are tied to her status as a dreamer. Airi has the power to manipulate the dream world, using her subconscious to influence the environment and even the emotions of others around her. As the Witch of Gluttony, she can manifest an entire reality based on food and childhood fantasy, though this power is directly linked to her psychological instability, making her both a potential ally and a threat within the dream realm.
