Description
Originally the leader of magical girls during the Distonian War, Chevalier Francine held the designation of Chevalier. She suffered catastrophic injuries in battle, her body bisected at the lower abdomen, and was presumed dead. Unbeknownst to her, Asuka Ootorii's latent revival magic resurrected her. Returning home, she discovered her mother and grandparents killed during the war, deepening her resentment toward the post-war world.

Observing human governments continuing to fight without a unifying threat like the Disas, Francine became disillusioned with humanity. This led her to form the Babel Brigade, adopting the alias "Brigadier" and concealing her identity with a mask. Her goal evolved into establishing a fascist world order where magical girls ruled over and purged humanity, believing this necessary for lasting peace. She operated on "the end justifies the means," valuing subordinates solely based on their utility, particularly if they were magical girls.

Francine displayed a complex personality shift. During the Disas conflict, she exhibited a carefree, flirtatious demeanor, often making inappropriate advances toward fellow magical girls as a stress coping mechanism, yet demonstrated capable leadership in critical moments. As the Brigadier, she became cold and calculating, showing no remorse for morally questionable actions like manipulating or eliminating opponents. She expressed genuine care only for her subordinate and intimate partner, Abigail, rescuing her from capture while dismissing others like Giess after his death.

Her relationships were defined by manipulation and unresolved war connections. She harbored an unrequited attraction toward Asuka Ootorii, whom she entrusted with leadership while believing herself dying. Post-revival, she avoided direct confrontation with Asuka but ordered Abigail to capture Kurumi Mugen alive for recruitment. Francine had a secret wartime romantic relationship with Mia Cyrus, which ended when Mia identified her as the Brigadier. During their final encounter, Francine offered Mia a place in the Babel Brigade; after Mia refused, Francine killed her without hesitation. Francine also brainwashed Sayako Hata into becoming Sekmet, a weapon of mass destruction, viewing her solely as a tool despite Sekmet's unwavering loyalty.

As Babel Brigade leader, Francine orchestrated terrorist attacks, including resurrecting the Disas Beast, to destabilize human governments. Her plans involved alliances of convenience, like with Leyla Basticon, whom she deceived about the Beast's energy purpose. When Leyla discovered the betrayal, Francine allowed Sekmet to execute her. Francine's story concluded when Mia Cyrus, during a confrontation, detonated a suicide bomb, killing them both. In a posthumous message, she revealed to Asuka the full extent of her survival and revival ability.
