Carrie Savage
Description
Carrie Savage is an American voice actress, ADR director, and scriptwriter known for her extensive work in English dubs of anime series and video games. Born on April 8, 1980, in Atlanta, Georgia, she has been active in the voiceover industry since 2002 and is currently based in New York City, working as a freelancer.
Savage's path to voice acting began with a passion for live performance. She started acting during her grade school years, though her initial career aspiration was to become a doctor. However, her strong love for theater led her to continue auditioning for roles in Los Angeles. It was at the behest of two close friends that she began taking on voice-over work, a medium she came to enjoy, even as her primary focus remained on stage acting and dancing. She has cited Meryl Streep and Anthony Hopkins as two of her greatest influences in theater.
Known for her naturally sweet-sounding voice, Savage is frequently cast in roles that are cheerful, soft-spoken, or gentle, though her filmography demonstrates considerable range. She has portrayed a wide array of characters across numerous major anime franchises. Among her most recognized roles are Lisanna Strauss in the long-running series Fairy Tail and its sequel, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest. She is also well-known for providing the voice of Hakufu Sonsaku across multiple installments of the Ikki Tousen franchise, including the original series, Great Guardians, Xtreme Xecutor, and Western Wolves. Another signature role is the dual-gendered creature Mokona in the interconnected series Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle and xxxHolic, as well as their associated OVAs and films.
Savage's extensive body of work includes a wide variety of other notable characters. She voiced Miu Furinji in KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple, Chaos in Heaven's Lost Property Forte and its concluding film, Selnia Iori Flameheart in Ladies versus Butlers!, and Junko Kaname, the mother of the titular character, in Puella Magi Madoka Magica. She also played significant roles in series such as SoltyRei (as Solty Revant), Rumbling Hearts (as Haruka Suzumiya), Ghost Talker's Daydream (as Ai Kunugi), and Murder Princess (as both Ana and Yuna). Her film work includes voicing Toola in Origin: Spirits of the Past.
In addition to anime, Savage has lent her voice to numerous video games. Her notable game credits include Cissnei in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Althea in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, Celica A. Mercury in the BlazBlue series, and Scylla in Smite. She has also been a recurring voice for characters in the Dynasty Warriors and Warriors Orochi franchises, typically voicing Diao Chan, Xing Cai, and Xiao Qiao.
Throughout her career, Savage has frequently collaborated with a consistent group of fellow voice actors based in the Texas circuit, including Colleen Clinkenbeard, Monica Rial, Caitlin Glass, and Todd Haberkorn, among others. Beyond performance, she has also contributed to the industry in other capacities. She has worked as an ADR voice director on series such as Shuffle!, Suzuka, and Baldr Force EXE Resolution, and as a script writer for School Rumble and Shuffle!.
Outside of her professional work, Savage is known for her charitable endeavors, having participated in volunteer work in countries including Uganda, Mexico, and the Philippines.
