Description
Miss China runs the Tenkai restaurant and boarding house in a 19th-century English coastal town, having immigrated from Asia. Townspeople affectionately call her "Miss China," her real name obscured possibly by pronunciation challenges. Her establishment doubles as a dining spot and home for tenants like Dr. Breckenridge and his assistant Jim Floyd.

Her personality merges impetuousness with romanticism. She frequently erupts in volatile tempers, especially toward Dr. Breckenridge and Jim over unpaid rent, resorting to physical confrontations like kicking down doors. This aggression fuels her frustration with the inventors’ financial neglect as they fund projects like space travel devices instead. Yet a kind-hearted nature and vivid imagination endear her to those close to her.

Exceptional martial arts prowess defines her, deployed against tenants during disputes. Her combat skills occasionally serve practical ends, like bending metal bars for inventions when deliberately provoked.

Unspoken romantic feelings for Jim Floyd shape her character arc, hindered by communication barriers. Jim’s apparent interest in Lily, a local florist, deepens Miss China’s insecurities, influencing pivotal events such as Jim’s moon inscription gesture.

Her narrative weaves through extraordinary experiences from the inventors’ creations. One device enables lunar interaction, prompting Jim to carve "Happy Birthday China" on the moon’s surface as a gift. Later, her powerful kick shatters the moon into planetary rings—an event the townspeople collectively dismisses. Another invention mishap shrinks her dramatically, necessitating rescue. These events anchor her direct involvement in the scientists’ escapades despite initial resistance.

Persistent financial hardship marks her dealings with the inventors, who remain impoverished despite breakthroughs like matter teleportation and lunar manipulation. Her relentless rent-collection struggles underscore this tension.
