Mai Kadowaki

Description
Mai Kadowaki is a Japanese voice actress and singer born on September 8, 1980, in Tokyo, Japan. She began her career in the entertainment industry after attending voice actor training schools, making her debut in the 2002 anime Ground Defense Force Mao-chan. In the early years of her career, she was affiliated with Production Baobab before moving to Kaleidoscope in 2007, the same year she changed the kanji of her stage name from 門脇舞 to 門脇舞以, though the pronunciation remained the same. Since April 2015, she has worked as a freelancer and has a business partnership with the agency Still Wood Garden.

Kadowaki is widely recognized for her long-standing association with several major anime franchises. Her most iconic and defining role is that of Illyasviel von Einzbern, which she has voiced across the vast Fate franchise. This includes the original Fate/stay night anime, the Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya series and its sequels, the Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel movie trilogy, Fate/Zero, and various spin-offs and OVAs such as Fate/Grand Carnival and Today's Menu for Emiya Family. Her portrayal of Illya is one of her most celebrated performances.

Another significant recurring role for Kadowaki is Sanya V. Litvyak in the Strike Witches franchise. She has voiced this character in numerous television series, OVAs, and movies, including Strike Witches: Road to Berlin and World Witches Take Off!. She is also known for her role as the strategist Koumei Shokatsuryou in the Ikki Tousen series, appearing in multiple installments such as Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny, Great Guardians, and Xtreme Xecutor. In the Negima! franchise, she provides the voice for the genius inventor Satomi Hakase. Her other notable anime roles include Mimi Usa in Kodomo no Jikan, Kasane Tōdō in A Bridge to the Starry Skies, and Hinako in the Isshoni Training series.

Beyond anime, Kadowaki has lent her voice to a wide array of video game characters. Some of her prominent game roles include Rorolina Frixell (Rorona) in the Atelier series, Emil in NieR and NieR: Automata, and Yaoyao in Genshin Impact. For her work in adult computer games, she uses the pseudonym Mitsu Anzu. In addition to voice acting, she is also a singer and has performed theme songs for many of the anime in which she has starred, often as part of the character or the series' cast.

Throughout her career, Kadowaki has formed lasting professional relationships and collaborations. She is particularly close friends with fellow voice actress Misato Fukuen, with whom she formed the voice actor unit TAMAGO in 2004. Her voice is characterized as a high-pitched and distinctive soprano, which has made her a natural fit for playing young, cute, or timid characters, as well as "glasses girls," a trait she shares with many of her roles. Outside of her performance work, she is also skilled in illustration, a talent she has pursued as a hobby and in doujinshi activities.
