TV-Series
Description
Ms. Merrychristmas, whose real name is Drophy, is a former officer agent of the criminal organization Baroque Works, operating under the codename Miss Merry Christmas. She appears as a major antagonist during the Arabasta Arc of One Piece. Her alias references a holiday, following the organization’s naming convention for its female agents.
In terms of background, she was a member of Baroque Works and partnered with the agent known as Mr. 4. After the organization’s collapse following the events in Arabasta, she retired from active criminal work and eventually took up a position as a "princess" at the new Spiders Cafe, alongside several of her former colleagues.
Personality-wise, Miss Merry Christmas is defined by an extremely impatient and hurried demeanor. She speaks in a very fast, high-pitched, and almost child-like manner, often clipping words to only their first syllable. This contrasts sharply with her partner Mr. 4, who is notably slow and deliberate. Her motivations stem from her role as a professional operative within Baroque Works; she is dedicated to executing the organization’s plans efficiently and is fiercely combative when facing opponents.
Her role in the story is that of an obstacle for the Straw Hat Pirates, specifically clashing with Usopp and Chopper during the Arabasta Arc. She and Mr. 4 are tasked with stopping the pirates from interfering with Baroque Works’ plot to overthrow the Arabasta kingdom. Her underground tunneling abilities make her a persistent and tricky threat, forcing her opponents to adapt to attacks from below.
Key relationships include her partnership with Mr. 4, with whom she coordinates attacks. She also works alongside Mr. 4’s dog, Lassu, who chews and spits explosive baseballs. Her superiors are the higher-ranking agents of Baroque Works, most notably the leader, Mr. 0 (Sir Crocodile). After the fall of the organization, she maintains connections with other former Baroque Works members at the Spiders Cafe.
Character development is minimal, as she appears primarily as a villain in a single major arc. Following her defeat, she transitions from being a dangerous agent to living a quiet civilian life, showing that she adapts to the end of her criminal career without further conflict or personal growth in the narrative.
Miss Merry Christmas possesses the power of the Mogu Mogu no Mi (Mole Mole Fruit), a Zoan-type Devil Fruit. This allows her to transform into a giant mole or a hybrid mole-human form. In this state, she gains sharp digging claws and can tunnel through earth and sand at high speed. This ability lets her move underground undetected, ambush enemies by emerging beneath them, and reposition herself rapidly during battle. Her tunneling is especially effective in the sandy terrain of Arabasta. She can also use her claws to scratch and slash opponents directly. Her combat style relies on stealth and speed, complementing Mr. 4’s brute force to create a coordinated, multi-directional attack pattern that overwhelmed the Straw Hats during their first encounter.
