Description
Kirara, also known by her civilian name Mihoshi, is a character from the anime Gundam Build Fighters. She is introduced as an Akiba-style Gunpla idol, a public persona she adopts to further her career in the entertainment industry. Her background is rooted in ambition: Kirara aspires to become a top idol, and her talent agency sees the popularity of Gunpla Battle as a stepping stone to achieve that goal. Because of this, she enters the world of Gunpla Battle not out of a genuine love for Gundam or model building, but as a calculated career move. Initially, she openly states that she has no interest in Gunpla or the Gundam series, treating it purely as a means to gain fame.

Kirara's personality is marked by a duality between her glamorous, energetic stage persona and her more grounded, occasionally underhanded approach to competition. As Kirara, she presents a flashy, singing, and dancing idol image designed to attract attention. However, in her pursuit of victory, she is not above cheating. She pays fans to build her Gunpla for her, and she strategically gets close to her opponents to gather information and sabotage their Gunpla before battles. Despite these manipulative tactics, Kirara also displays a caring and concerned side. She shows genuine worry for Ricardo Fellini during his intense battle with Aila Jyrkiäinen, and for Sei Iori and Reiji when they face Fellini. This suggests a growing empathy beneath her opportunistic exterior. Her private appearance as Mihoshi is notably more subdued, with darker hair and a less striking look, contrasting sharply with her idol image.

Her motivations evolve throughout the series. While she begins with the singular goal of using Gunpla Battle to boost her idol career, her experiences in the tournament begin to change her perspective. She develops a growing appreciation for the hobby and the people involved. A key relationship is with Ricardo Fellini, a world-class Gunpla fighter. They meet at a reception and grow closer over the course of the tournament. Kirara becomes genuinely supportive of him, cheering on his serious matches and even stopping him from needlessly self-destructing his Gunpla in a quarterfinal bout. This relationship marks a significant point in her development, moving her from a purely self-serving participant to someone who values the connections and passion within the Gunpla community. She also forms a bond with Sei Iori, impressing him with her unexpectedly deep knowledge of Gundam, a result of the study she undertook to build her character.

In the story, Kirara serves as a supporting character and rival in the Gunpla Battle World Championships. She pilots a customized mobile suit called the Gerbera Tetra. Her role highlights the intersection of commercial idol culture with the serious world of competitive Gunpla building and fighting. Over the course of her journey, she demonstrates notable abilities. While she initially relies on sabotage and pre-built Gunpla, she is a capable and knowledgeable pilot, earning respect for her skills in battle. Her extensive knowledge of the Gundam franchise, particularly her professed love for Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, shows that she has invested significant effort into understanding the source material, even if it began as a career necessity. By the time of Gundam Build Fighters Try, set seven years later, Kirara has shed her idol persona entirely and successfully transitioned into a popular Hollywood actress under her real name, Mihoshi, having used her time in Gunpla Battle to build a lasting career in entertainment. This progression from a calculating opportunist to a successful figure who genuinely grew through her experiences represents her key character development.
