Description
Mitsuki Kamatani is a sixteen-year-old first-year student at Himaraya Third Technical School and the youngest member of the Glasses Club. He has orange-brown hair, turquoise eyes, stands 166 centimeters tall, and weighs 53 kilograms. His blood type is AB, and his birthday is June 6. He wears under-rim cel frames, his favorite style of glasses, and his uncorrected vision is 0.08 in his left eye and 0.4 in his right eye.
Mitsuki's background is defined by his admiration for Akira Souma, the club's founder. When Mitsuki first entered the school, he was wearing what he considered uncool glasses, and it was Akira who helped him choose a new pair. This experience sparked a deep devotion, and Mitsuki joined the Glasses Club specifically to support his beloved upperclassman. His primary motivation is to work hard enough that Akira will come to rely on him.
Personality-wise, Mitsuki presents a sweet, little-brother-like demeanor. He is cheerful, eager to help, and often acts with innocent enthusiasm. However, his extreme respect for Akira and the other upperclassmen creates a contrasting side: he can be impatient, petty, and even physically aggressive toward those he does not respect, especially Hayato Kimata. He dislikes Hayato because Hayato has normal eyesight and wears fake glasses, which Mitsuki sees as an insult to the club's values. He frequently picks on Hayato with rough jokes, verbal jabs, and occasionally physical attacks, such as poking his eyes or striking him with a wrench. This split personality—warm and adoring to the upperclassmen, harsh and antagonistic to Hayato—is a consistent trait.
Despite his aggressive streak, Mitsuki is not particularly strong academically; mathematics gives him trouble, and his grades are comparable to the other club members. He can also use his innocent appearance to his advantage: a particularly dazzling smile of his can literally blind those around him, temporarily incapacitating them.
His role in the story is that of the supportive junior member who looks up to Akira and serves as a foil to Hayato. His interactions with the rest of the club are generally warm, though he sometimes clashes with Yukiya and Takuma over smaller matters. Over the course of the series, his dedication to Akira remains constant, and he becomes more integral to the club's activities, though his rivalry with Hayato never fully resolves. He is notably possessive of Akira's attention and becomes visibly upset when Akira is away. His notable ability is the blinding smile, which he uses in comedic situations to disarm opponents or achieve his goals.
