TV-Series
Description
Fiona Beckford is a first-year student at Winford Academy, enrolled in the prestigious knight course. She is a talented jousting competitor who is known for her modern, self-assured, and somewhat egocentric personality. Often perceived as stubborn, she can be reluctant to admit her own mistakes, which frequently leads to conflicts with her peers. Despite this challenging exterior, she is a dedicated and observant individual who is determined to prove herself.

Fiona’s primary motivation is to gain a reputation as a skilled knight and earn the acknowledgment of others. She has a strong sense of pride and desires to be seen as capable and independent. This is reflected in her fighting style, as she prefers to compete alone and refuses the assistance of a begleiter, the standard assistant in jousting matches. Her approach to jousting relies more on strategy and intellect rather than on strenuous effort, as she dislikes sweating and does not practice with extreme intensity. She is envious of the natural, unprecedented talent possessed by her close friend, Lisa Eostre, and often studies Lisa's matches to learn new tactics and improve her own abilities.

Within the story, Fiona’s most significant relationship is with Lisa Eostre, whom she met during the entrance examination and has been close with ever since. The two are almost always seen together, and Fiona is described as being very protective of Lisa. It is hinted that they may share similar feelings of loneliness or family problems, which forms a deep bond between them. Initially, Fiona also has a tense rivalry with the protagonist, Takahiro Mizuno, whom she looks down upon and often insults, displaying a classic tsundere demeanor around him. Another notable trait is her extreme fear of cats; she will run away simply upon hearing a cat’s meow.

Fiona undergoes noticeable character development as the series progresses. She first appears as a troublemaker who gives a negative impression due to her arrogance and confrontational attitude. However, she later reveals a more dedicated side; for example, when she is unable to participate in a training camp, she chooses to practice intensely on her own, showing her determination. Her emotional growth is most evident when she reconciles with Lisa after a disagreement, revealing a more amiable and human side to her personality. In some source material, it is further revealed that her friendship with Lisa was initially complicated by jealousy over Lisa’s skill, but after being defeated in a tournament, she reforms and genuinely reconciles with her.

In terms of abilities, Fiona is an excellent jouster whose technical skill is considered top-tier for a first-year student, sometimes receiving a B-rank for her technique. She favors a distinctive and advanced suit of armor known as the Griffin Armor, produced by the ARETE company in Italy in 2009. This armor is notable for its unique and innovative design, made of titanium and carbon fiber, which allows for agile movements during an attack, though its appearance is not appreciated by many others, Fiona herself is fascinated by it.
