Description
Chikashi Hayasaka is a student in class 3-E at Houjou University附属 High School and serves as a supporting character in the story's introductory chapter. He is a close friend and classmate of the protagonist, Haruki Kitahara, and is generally regarded as one of his few trusted peers.

Known for his cheerful and outgoing personality, Chikashi is frequently described as a self-promoter who talks as if he is working himself to the bone for the success of the school festival while actually relying heavily on Haruki. Despite this tendency, he is a loyal friend, and their relationship improved significantly from earlier conflicts, eventually becoming close in under a week after initially clashing due to their opposite temperaments.

Chikashi's primary role in the story is as a member of the festival executive committee. After taking over the student council representative duties from Haruki, he becomes directly involved in organizing the annual school festival and the unofficial "Miss Houjou University附属 High School" contest. His actions indirectly facilitate the first meeting between Haruki and Setsuna Ogiso when he asks the previous year's winner to participate.

He is particularly perceptive regarding the relationship between Haruki and Kazusa Touma. Chikashi is among the group who most clearly observes the mutual attraction between the two over several months. He maintains a good relationship with the solitary Kazusa, greeting her through Haruki, and is noted for his perceptive support of their potential relationship. His awareness of their dynamic leads him to express a hypothetical intention to confess to Kazusa, an act intended to test the feelings between Haruki and Setsuna after they begin dating.

After high school, Chikashi attends a university in the Kyoto or Osaka area and largely disappears from the main narrative. He makes minor appearances later in the story, such as sending a voicemail message congratulating Haruki on his engagement in one specific narrative path. He speaks with a Kansai dialect that is often noted by his friends.
