Description
Petralka Anne Eldant the Third, also romanized in some materials as Petrarca Anne Erdanto the Third, is a central figure in the anime Outbreak Company. She serves as the young empress of the Holy Eldant Empire, a fantasy nation in which much of the story takes place. Although she has a small, childlike appearance, she is sixteen years old and holds the highest authority in her realm, having come to the throne at that young age. She lives in Eldant Castle, where her daily life and duties are looked after by two trusted officials: Galius En Cordbal, a loyal knight minister who serves as her guardian, and Saishou Zakhar, the empire's clever chancellor. These two are the people closest to her within the imperial court and are largely responsible for guiding and protecting her as she governs.
In terms of appearance, Petralka is easily recognized by her very long purple or lilac hair and her green eyes. Her demeanor reflects her upbringing as a ruler, and she carries herself with the confidence and formality expected of an empress. In personality, however, she is highly proactive, energetic, and brimming with curiosity. She is especially fascinated by otaku culture, the anime, manga, and video game products brought into her world through cultural exchange. Rather than treating these unfamiliar imports with suspicion, she eagerly embraces them and becomes one of the strongest advocates for spreading them throughout her empire.
Her motivation is closely tied to this fascination. She is genuinely curious about the culture from another world and wants to bring it to her own people, and she actively supports the efforts of the story's main character, Shinichi Kanou, who is tasked with introducing Japanese pop culture to the Eldant Empire. Her initial interest in Shinichi is sparked by the casual and informal way he speaks to her, which stands out from the deference she usually receives as a monarch, and it deepens as she learns more about the world of otaku interests. Her support is not passive; she takes an involved role in championing the cultural exchange and lends the weight of her imperial authority to Shinichi's projects.
Within the story, Petralka functions as an important political figure whose backing legitimizes the cultural exchange mission and helps smooth over the challenges the main characters face. Her relationships reveal the contrast between her public role and her private self. With Galius and Saishou, she is a young sovereign who depends on their counsel and protection. With Shinichi, she develops a bond built on shared curiosity and growing trust, and he treats her with a familiarity that both surprises her and draws her out of her formal shell.
Over the course of the series, Petralka shows meaningful development as a character. She is willing to learn from her experiences, openly admits when she has made mistakes, and makes genuine efforts to improve herself. This openness to growth steadily balances out her more imperious or stubborn moments and reveals an earnest, good-hearted nature beneath her royal dignity.
As for notable abilities, the documented information about her does not describe any special combat skills, magical powers, or supernatural talents. Her significance in the story comes instead from her position as empress, her political influence, and her energetic and determined personality, which combine to make her a driving force behind the cultural exchange that defines her role in the series.
