Description
Itsujirō Kajii, also known as Gojiro Kajii, is an older man who worked at the Shinto Electric power plant two decades before the story’s events. He has gray hair, black eyes, and a pointed nose, and is typically seen wearing square-rimmed glasses, a blue striped polo shirt with a small pocket on the right chest, beige pants, and dark brown leather shoes.

His personality blends a slightly cocky or proud demeanor with genuine kindness and intelligence. Beneath his gruff exterior, he is deeply compassionate, particularly towards the Coppelion unit members. He shows remarkable care for Haruto Kurosawa, assisting him with repairs at the power station and expressing concern when Haruto is injured. His primary motivation is the safety and well-being of his family and fellow survivors. This is most evident in his profound love for his daughter, Ibuki Kajii, whom he risks his life to bring to a hospital in Shibuya. Haunted by past mistakes, he is determined not to repeat the same sins, wanting to protect his daughter from suffering.

In the story, the Medic Unit encounters Itsujirō as he is desperately attempting to transport his daughter to safety. His role is that of a survivor and a mentor, a former insider of the very industrial complex responsible for the disaster that has reshaped Tokyo. This background gives him crucial knowledge that proves vital. He and Haruto work together to repair the electric power station, and he also helps other survivors, including Foreman Kurobe and Gennai, fix an old train.

Key relationships define his character. His bond with Haruto Kurosawa is built on mutual assistance and respect, as they save each other during dangerous encounters. His relationship with Foreman Kurobe and Gennai is one of camaraderie, as he selflessly aids them in repairing the train. However, his most significant relationship is with his daughter, Ibuki. His every action is driven by his love for her, and his desperation to save her highlights the personal cost of the devastated world they inhabit.

Itsujirō demonstrates notable practical abilities. His past as a worker at Shinto Electric provides him with the technical expertise necessary to repair critical infrastructure like the power station. He is mechanically inclined and resourceful, able to contribute to the repair of a train, proving his value to the group of survivors.
