Description
Hifumi Yamada is a student from the anime Danganronpa: The Animation who holds the title of the Ultimate Fanfic Creator, also known as a Super High School Level Doujin Writer. He is a young man with a very distinctive and memorable appearance. His height is 170 centimeters, and he weighs 155 kilograms, giving him a heavy-set, rounded figure with a prominent belly but noticeably thin and short legs. He has black hair styled into symmetrical points and curves, and he always wears a pair of round, black-rimmed glasses. His typical outfit consists of a white shirt, a gray cardigan tucked into his trousers, an arrow-patterned tie, and an orange backpack that he carries with him constantly, even when indoors. His birthday is December 31st.

Hifumi is the embodiment of a passionate and eccentric otaku. He is fiercely devoted to the world of 2D, or two-dimensional, fictional characters, openly declaring that he has no interest in real, three-dimensional women. His speech is energetic, filled with references, net slang, and dramatic overreactions. He has a unique verbal tic of addressing everyone, both male and female, by their full name followed by the honorific "don" or "lord". Despite his obsession and unusual mannerisms, Hifumi is surprisingly sociable and cooperative, blending into group settings without building walls between himself and others. On the inside, he can be temperamental and is known to have lashed out at people he believed were only pretending to be kind to him.

The driving force behind most of Hifumi's actions is his absolute love for fan culture and creation. His dream is not merely to create his own works but to inspire others to make their own fan fiction, hoping to save them by giving their lives a creative direction, much like he was inspired by his favorite anime. He is utterly devoted to the fictional magical girl series "Demon Angel☆Pretty Pudgy Princess" and its heroine, Princess Piggles. He once claimed that Princess Piggles appeared to him in a dream, and he has been in love with her ever since. This passion fuels his legendary talent; before coming to Hope's Peak Academy, he sold an astonishing 10,000 copies of his self-published fan comic at a single school culture festival, an achievement that earned him both fame and complaints from other students who felt his work had disrupted the event.

Within the story of the anime, Hifumi plays a significant role in the third chapter. He is manipulated by another student, Celestia Ludenberg, who preys on his deep infatuation with a digital artificial intelligence program that resembles a 2D girl. Using his exceptional manual dexterity, which is also used for creating detailed figures and art, Hifumi builds a large robot costume called "Justice Robo" as part of a complex plan. He is ultimately led to commit a murder on Celestia's behalf, believing it to be an act of justice to protect someone he cares for. After carrying out the crime, he is subsequently killed by Celestia herself, making him one of the victims of the killing game. His death comes just after he regains consciousness for a moment to identify his murderer, revealing crucial information for the subsequent class trial.

In terms of abilities, his talent as the Ultimate Fanfic Creator showcases his skill in writing and drawing manga, but he also demonstrates great craftsmanship in making detailed figures and models, even though his handwriting is famously poor. During the game's debates, his skills translate into unique abilities; his "Craftwork" allows him to reload two shots at once in a "Nonstop Debate," and his "Delusion" or "Imagination" lets him quickly recover his mental focus when he concentrates. Hifumi's development, while cut short by his death, shows a character who, beneath a layer of obsessive fandom and social awkwardness, is driven by a sincere if misguided desire for justice and a sense of purpose found only in his art.
