Kōsonryū, also known as Kou Son Ryuu, is a character from the anime and manga series Kingdom. He was a general of the Zhao state and was known by the title the All-Rounder General, a reflection of his extensive experience and ability to competently perform various roles on the battlefield, including both command and strategic planning.

His background is closely tied to the military leadership of Zhao. He served under the renowned commander Ri Boku (Li Mu) and was a trusted subordinate. Along with the late Chou Sou, Kōsonryū was personally entrusted by Ri Boku to carry out a secret plan that was designed to draw out and assassinate the Qin great general Ou Ki. This mission highlights his role as a key operative in Zhao’s efforts to counter the rise of Qin.

Kōsonryū’s personality is not extensively detailed, but his actions portray him as a capable, calculating, and loyal officer. He is methodical in his duties and willing to execute high-stakes schemes for the benefit of his state. His motivations are rooted in his service to Zhao and his allegiance to Ri Boku, whom he respects as a commander.

In terms of notable abilities, his title of All-Rounder General indicates a versatile skill set. He is depicted as a seasoned commander who can adapt to various combat situations, whether leading troops directly or devising strategies from afar. His ability to participate in a covert operation targeting one of Qin’s most formidable generals demonstrates his competence and the trust placed in him by his superiors.

Kōsonryū does not undergo significant character development over the course of the story, as his role is primarily that of a supporting antagonist within the Zhao military. His key relationships are with Ri Boku, whom he serves, and with his fallen comrade Chou Sou, with whom he collaborated on the plan against Ou Ki. His presence in the narrative reinforces the depth of Zhao's military apparatus and the threats faced by the Qin state during the unification wars.
