Description
Katsumi Kurebayashi is a third-year student and the president of the Photo Club at the school where the story takes place. She shares a classroom with other third-year students including the leader of the rival Photography Club. Katsumi was born on April 26 and is 18 years old, with brown eyes and brown hair that she typically wears in a ponytail parted in the middle.

Before her involvement with photography, Katsumi was a talented athlete and the ace of the school's volleyball club. Her athletic career came to an end during her first year of high school when she suffered an ankle injury that forced her to retire from competitive sports. Following this setback, she began learning about cameras and photography as a new pursuit. This new hobby eventually led her to seek membership in the school's existing Photography Club, but she was rejected by its president, Hiromichi Kudou. The rejection stemmed from a fundamental disagreement over the direction of the club, as Kudou was primarily interested in taking borderline erotic photographs of female students. Unwilling to accept this approach, Katsumi took the initiative to establish an alternative organization called the Photo Club, which would serve as the school's official club for photography. The creation of her club was supported by another student, Aki, allowing Katsumi to pursue her vision for a more wholesome and supportive photography group.

As the president of the Photo Club, Katsumi is confident and well-respected among the student body, particularly by the female students involved in various club activities. Her club takes all of the school's official photographs, distinguishing it from the Photography Club which is not sanctioned for the same purpose. Since her injury prevented her from continuing to compete as an athlete, Katsumi channels her passion for sports into her photography. She uses her camera to document the activities of other students, cheering them on as they pursue their own athletic dreams. Her work is especially appreciated by members of sports clubs, who value the feedback and support she provides by photographing their practices and providing input to help them improve. This role allows her to remain connected to the world of athletics that she was forced to leave behind.

In the narrative, Katsumi serves as a pivotal figure who directly influences the protagonist's path. Upon seeing the protagonist with his camera, both Katsumi and Hiromichi Kudou immediately attempt to recruit him for their respective clubs, presenting him with a choice that determines the direction of his story. Her motivations are rooted in building a legitimate and constructive photography club that serves the school community, contrasting sharply with the more questionable motives of her rival. Katsumi is a former athlete turned supportive documentarian, whose own lost dream allows her to help others shine. Her defining trait is her dedication to using her photography as a positive and encouraging force, celebrating the efforts of her fellow students from behind the lens.
