Description
Miyu Yamazaki is one of the main characters in Super GALS! and a close friend and classmate of Ran Kotobuki. Behind her cheerful, romantic, and cute appearance lies a troubled past. When Miyu was in third grade, her parents divorced and her father remarried. She lived with her mother, who neglected her and focused on finding a new partner, even resenting Miyu because she reminded her of her former husband. This lack of parental care caused Miyu to become the leader of a street gang called the Resistance during middle school. In that period, she was rough, threatening, and often caused trouble, which made Ran dislike her initially.

Miyu's life changed when she met Yamato Kotobuki, who was a rookie police officer at the time. He saved her from a difficult situation, and his dedication to helping her made her fall in love with him. After he expressed his wish for her to be a good person, she left her life of crime and became a much more polite and kind-hearted girl. She later became best friends with Ran and began dating Yamato. Despite her transformation, Miyu remains an incredibly skilled fighter, and she can revert to her former tough personality when she becomes extremely angry or when someone upsets her greatly.

Miyu is independent, headstrong, and very kind. She values her friendships deeply and is a loyal and supportive companion. She has a habit of referring to herself in the third person, which adds to her cute personality. She loves being a gal and enjoys spending time in Shibuya with her friends. Her key relationship is with Ran, her best friend, and she is deeply in love with Yamato, Ran's older brother. A running gag in the series involves Ran interrupting Miyu and Yamato whenever they try to kiss. Over the course of the story, Miyu continues to grow and mature, eventually marrying Yamato and becoming part of the Kotobuki family. In the sequel manga, she sets out to find her missing mother to show her the happy new life she has built. Her notable abilities include her formidable fighting skills, which she retains from her gang leader days, and her capacity for personal change and resilience.
