TV-Series
Description
Otome Yanagiya is a 24-year-old physician who works for the Osaka branch of the organization known as JP's, serving as a clerk and taking charge of medical care for her colleagues. She is 162 centimeters tall, with blonde or yellow hair and yellow eyes, and her birthday falls on September 9. As one of the more senior figures within the group, she carries herself with a steadiness that makes her something of an older sister or mother figure to the people around her.
In terms of personality, Otome has a warm disposition and a kind heart. She can appear ditzy or absent-minded at times, but she rarely loses her composure and is consistently one of the more collected and mature characters in the story. She has a playful streak and enjoys teasing the people around her, usually in the context of romance. In particular, she likes to gently tease Makoto about her implied romantic feelings for the protagonist, and she will occasionally turn that same teasing on the protagonist himself when the situation calls for it. Despite her lighthearted manner, she is dependable and level-headed when it matters.
Otome's main motivation is rooted in caring for others. She is deeply protective of those around her and works to keep them safe and healthy through her medical skills. Her most personal motivation involves her adopted daughter, Koharu. Otome cares for Koharu greatly and worries about her wellbeing, though her demanding work and the constant danger of their situation make it difficult for her to spend time with her daughter. This strained relationship is a central part of her personal storyline, as she struggles to balance her responsibilities to the larger group with her desire to look after the person she loves most.
Within the story, Otome serves as a supporting member of JP's who works alongside the main cast during the crisis. Her medical expertise makes her valuable for treating injuries and keeping the team in fighting condition, and she also participates directly in combat operations alongside her colleagues. She is close with Makoto and works alongside Fumi as well, with Makoto remarking that she always feels exhausted whenever Otome and Fumi team up together. Tragically, Otome meets her end in episode 8: together with Joe and Ronaldo, she is killed in the massive explosion that occurs after the group successfully defeats Megrez. Her death removes a stabilizing and caring presence from the team at a critical moment in the conflict.
Notable abilities for Otome include her training and experience as a physician, which allow her to provide medical care and support to her allies. Beyond her medical work, she is capable enough as a fighter to take part in dangerous missions, as shown by her involvement in the battle against Megrez. Her greatest strengths, however, lie in her emotional steadiness, her mature judgment, and her genuine concern for the well-being of others, all of which make her a reliable anchor for the group even in the midst of turmoil.
