TV-Series
Description
Jungo Torii is a chef residing in Nagoya who becomes a key ally in the fight against otherworldly invaders. As a tall young man with short black hair and gray eyes, his bangs often cover his left eye, and he is rarely seen without his signature black beanie and a white T-shirt that reads Fish or die!. He is 19 years old and stands at 182 centimeters in height.

Jungo is widely regarded as one of the simpler characters in terms of his aspirations and thought process, often failing to grasp certain concepts of common sense or technology. He possesses a gentle and quiet demeanor but undergoes a dramatic shift when his friends are threatened, entering a trance-like rage that makes him a formidable fighter. He places immense value on peace and friendship, making consistent efforts to keep the group together during moments of strife. A running gag throughout the series is his unnatural fixation on chawanmushi, a savoury egg custard that he prepares and offers to others as a gesture of peace or as a gift. It is heavily implied that he worked as a chef or a chef's assistant before the catastrophic events, as he demonstrates knowledge of herbs and plants relevant to cooking. He also has a notable affinity for cats.

In the anime adaptation, Jungo's focus narrows considerably, primarily centering on protecting his fellow Nagoya native Airi Ban from harm. He is less expressive in the animated series compared to the video game, exhibiting a relatively flat attitude for much of the story. His motivation is driven by a desire to avoid fighting humans, but he will fight fiercely when necessary to defend others. When he and Airi first encounter the protagonist Hibiki Kuze and his friends, Jungo explains that he simply does not want to fight humans, regardless of the situation. He later participates in the operation to defeat the Septentrione Megrez in Nagoya. Jungo possesses a strong protective instinct; during a battle, he uses his demon to teleport himself and Airi out of danger after Megrez's last attack, though the effort leaves him unable to save the others present. In the story's final confrontation, Jungo and Airi are both killed by the enemy Benetnasch when cornered by exploding clones. After the world is reset by the protagonist's wish at the end of the series, Jungo is seen once again working at his shop in Nagoya, where he prepares chawanmushi for Airi and tells her she did a good job in an art competition.

Jungo's primary relationship in the anime is with Airi Ban, who he supports and tries to keep out of harm's way. He is also an ally to the main group led by Hibiki, joining forces with them to fight common enemies like the Septentriones and demonic threats. By the end of the story, he expresses trust in Hibiki and follows his lead in efforts to save the world. His character development is minimal in the anime compared to the game, but his unwavering loyalty and protective nature remain his defining traits. Among his notable abilities, he can summon and fight alongside demons such as Neko Shogun, which he uses in battle against enemies. As a physical fighter, he is known for his remarkable physical strength. However, he is slower and more vulnerable to magic attacks due to lower agility, though his high HP allows him to endure a significant amount of damage. He is also capable of using his demon to teleport himself and others out of dangerous situations.
