TV-Series
Description
Hyouga Ryuuya is an instructor at the prestigious Saotome Academy, where he serves as the homeroom adviser for the elite S Class. He is a man of considerable stature, standing at 192 cm tall with a muscular build reflective of his disciplined lifestyle. He has distinct orange hair and sharp blue eyes, and he is typically seen in a formal outfit consisting of a white polo shirt, a black suit jacket, and black slacks, often accessorized with a necktie. Born on May 15, he is 26 years old during the events of Maji Love 1000%.

Beyond his role as an educator, Ryuuya is a highly successful working actor, famous for his lead roles in action-oriented projects such as the television drama Prince of Fighting and the film Prince of Precipices. His career as a performer also extends to music; he is proficient with the trumpet and has released albums in the past, though he has stopped singing for reasons that are not immediately disclosed. In addition to his teaching and acting duties, he holds a position as a director at Shining Entertainment, which gives him significant responsibilities over the agency's management. This includes overseeing the budget for both the academy and the agency, a role that frequently causes him stress due to the destructive tendencies of the school's director, Shining Saotome.

In terms of personality, Ryuuya presents a stern, strict, and often unfriendly exterior. He holds a deep-seated disdain for individuals who do not take their professional responsibilities seriously or who lack genuine effort and passion. This characteristic is prominently displayed in his teaching philosophy; he is not satisfied with technical perfection alone. He particularly values emotional expression and sincerity in music, believing that a performance without heart is hollow. This belief leads to a notable confrontation with the talented but rigid student Tokiya Ichinose, where Ryuuya criticizes his mechanical approach and warns him that he will not last in S Class without tapping into his genuine emotions. Despite his intimidating demeanor, he is not cruel. He cares for the students under his charge and shows respect and admiration for those who demonstrate hard work and determination, such as the members of ST☆RISH after their debut.

Ryuuya has several significant relationships that define his role in the story. He is a close friend and former classmate of Tsukimiya Ringo, having attended the first term of Saotome Academy together. While they are close, he often finds Ringo's flamboyant personality to be irritating. He is also a senior figure to the members of QUARTET NIGHT, having previously been in charge of Reiji Kotobuki's master course. His strict yet effective teaching style has made him a role model for several students; most notably, Syo Kurusu is a huge fan and idolizes him greatly.

His background reveals more about his motivations and his stern nature. He is the eldest of four brothers, which may contribute to his strong sense of responsibility. An important event in his past is the death of a close friend who was his composing partner, an event that profoundly affected him and contributed to his decision to cease singing. This personal loss likely informs his rigorous insistence that students pour authentic emotion into their art, as he understands the deep connection between a performer's heart and their music. Throughout the first season, his main developmental arc involves witnessing the growth of his students, particularly as they prepare for their debut. While he begins as a harsh critic, he gradually shows a sense of pride and satisfaction in their achievements, softening somewhat as he sees the effort they put into their work.
