TV-Series
Description
Irori is a character from the series Unbreakable Machine-Doll. She is a type of advanced automaton known as a Banned Doll, which is a doll created using live components, granting her higher magical affinity than ordinary automatons. Irori is one of the Setsugetsuka series, a trio of dolls who are considered sisters. She represents the element of snow and is the eldest sister of Yaya, the primary female automaton partnered with the protagonist, and Komurasaki, the youngest of the three. Irori was created by Shouko Karyuusai, a powerful and enigmatic puppeteer who is both her master and the figure she regards as her mother.

In terms of appearance, Irori is depicted as a young woman with a slender build, a fair complexion, and a dignified bearing. She has long, straight silver hair that reaches her hips, styled with a traditional kanzashi hairpin on the left side of her head. Her eyes are black with bluish undertones, and she typically wears an elegant, long-sleeved light blue kimono that signifies her connection to winter. Her outfit is completed with fingerless gloves, high-platform geta sandals, and a black sash featuring her personal snowflake symbol. As a member of the Karyuusai family, she bears the family brand inscribed on her back.

Personality-wise, Irori is characterized as caring and protective, particularly towards her younger sister Yaya. She often worries about Yaya's safety and the well-being of Raishin Akabane, the young puppeteer who becomes Yaya's master. Irori holds a complicated view of Raishin, initially perceiving him as ruthless and self-interested, a perception shaped by his driven pursuit of revenge. However, her creator Shouko gently corrects this view, explaining that Raishin is actually compassionate by nature, showing mercy even to his enemies, and that his situation has forced him onto a harsh path. Irori comes to trust her master's judgment, dedicating herself to supporting Shouko's will while keeping her own concerns for Raishin and Yaya largely to herself.

Irori's primary role in the story is as Shouko Karyuusai's personal bodyguard and automaton. She serves her mistress faithfully and is often seen at Shouko's side, observing events from the background. Despite her secondary role compared to Yaya, she is a powerful combat unit. She later becomes one of the automatons controlled by Raishin Akabane when the situation demands it. In a significant demonstration of his growing skill, Raishin is able to simultaneously control Irori alongside her two sisters, Yaya and Komurasaki, forming a coordinated military unit to face a formidable enemy. This event highlights both Irori's capabilities as a high-performance automaton and the depth of the bond that forms between her, her sisters, and Raishin.

Irori's development is subtle but present. She begins as a somewhat distant observer who misjudges Raishin's character based on his intense exterior. Through conversations with Shouko and witnessing Raishin's actions, her understanding deepens, and she becomes more supportive of his partnership with Yaya. Her protective instincts expand to include concern for Raishin's well-being alongside her sister's. As a member of the Setsugetsuka, she shares a unique and powerful connection with her sisters, and her loyalty ultimately lies with her creator and her doll family.

Regarding notable abilities, as a Banned Doll and a member of the elite Setsugetsuka series, Irori possesses significant magical power and combat prowess. Her specific magical capabilities are tied to her nature as the snow sister, though detailed descriptions of her unique magic circuit remain limited in standard references. She is fully autonomous, able to think, act, and speak independently, yet she can also be directly controlled by a puppeteer. Her combat ability is such that she serves as the primary bodyguard for Shouko, a position that demands considerable strength. Furthermore, her construction as one of the three Setsugetsuka dolls implies a inherent synergy when fighting alongside her sisters, allowing for complex coordinated attacks when directed by a skilled puppeteer like Raishin.
