Description
Papladon Achim, also known as Akimu Papladon or simply Akim, is an artificial demon whose origins lie with a demon named Pantomime. Pantomime once served King Wolf, the ruler of the demon world's Acropolis, and vanished without a trace while carrying out a top-secret mission for his master. In his original form, he possessed a notable ability: he could copy the special ability of any demon simply by watching that ability performed once. His disappearance is connected to the events that brought the human girl Fuyumi into the demon world.
After Pantomime was captured and killed, the vampire Braz Blood delivered his remains to the mad scientist Franken Stein. Stein reconstructed him from the bodies of demons, creating an artificial demon designated Artificial Demon Number 9, who became known as Papladon Achim. Brought into existence from stitched-together demon flesh, he is regarded as Stein's greatest masterpiece, a monster of exceptional strength created with the aim of being powerful enough to defeat even King Wolf, the great ruler of the Acropolis.
In personality, Papladon Achim is marked by strong self-confidence and a tendency to hold himself above others, an arrogance that stands out given his relative lack of age and experience. Beneath this pride, however, lies a sharp and calculating mind, and he ultimately proves clever enough to outwit both Braz and Franken Stein, the very individuals who created him and intended to use him as their weapon. Rather than remaining a mere tool, he emerges as a threat in his own right.
His main role in the story is that of an antagonist. He first clashes with Staz, the story's central character, after being delivered to Stein's laboratory and activated, and he remains a formidable enemy afterward. In the final arc, he absorbs the Maryoku, or demonic energy, of Hellschaft Grimm, the first king of the demon world, and with that power he becomes vastly stronger, nearly taking control of the entire demon world. His key relationships are shaped by these events: he is the creation of Franken Stein, was captured and handed over by Braz Blood, was originally a loyal agent of King Wolf, stands as an opponent of Staz, and has a tie to the circumstances surrounding Fuyumi's arrival. His development carries him from a captive test subject to an independent and overwhelming menace, driven by the immense power he acquires and the ambition to become the dominant force in the demon world.
