Description
Metcha Mochimazzui is a supporting character in the anime Tamako Market. He is a young boy who serves as the prince of a southern island kingdom, the same tropical homeland from which the talking bird Dera Mochimazzi originally travels. Mecha is physically small in stature and has mahogany-toned skin, short black hair, and blue-green eyes. He often wears gold bracelets around his wrists and ankles, reflecting the traditional ornamentation of his royal upbringing.

As a prince, Mecha carries himself with a quiet sense of dignity and responsibility, though his young age and limited dialogue make his personality more reserved and observant compared to the more boisterous characters around him. His primary motivation is tied to his role as the future ruler of his island, which includes the expectation of finding a suitable bride. This duty sets the central plot of the series in motion, as Dera is dispatched to search for a bride on his behalf.

In the story, Mecha appears as an occasional but important presence, especially in episodes that involve the Mochimazzi royal family. His character acts as the anchor for Dera's mission and a symbol of the traditions and expectations of the southern island. Key relationships include his loyal attendant Dera and the fortune teller Choi Mochimazzi, who is also from the same island and serves the royal household. Together, they represent the outside world that occasionally intersects with the everyday life of the Usagiyama shopping district.

While Mecha does not undergo a major personal arc over the course of the series, his arrival and interactions with the main cast subtly highlight themes of duty, home, and the contrast between royal expectations and the simple warmth of community life. He does not possess flashy abilities; his significance lies in his royal status and the way his character grounds the more fantastical elements of the story within a framework of responsibility and heritage.
