Description
Choi Mochimazzui is a girl from a warm southern island who serves as a fortune teller for the royal Mochimazzui family. She is the direct superior of the talking bird Dera Mochimazzui, and she travels to the Usagiyama Shopping District after the prince dispatches her to locate Dera and continue the search for a bride. Her exact age is not stated, but she appears to be around the same age as the main character, Tamako Kitashirakawa, though she is notably petite, with a height of 145 centimeters. She has short black hair, deep magenta eyes, and dark skin, and in her homeland, she traditionally goes barefoot, adorning her ankles and wrists with gold jewelry.

Choi carries herself with a formal, stiff, and polite demeanor, speaking in a solemn tone befitting her position within the royal court. However, this reserved exterior gives way to a much harsher and more temperamental attitude when dealing with her subordinate, Dera. She is frequently shown scolding him for his weight gain and incompetence, berating him with tirades that he finds genuinely frightening. Despite her small stature and occasional formality, she can become withdrawn and suspicious of others when she feels threatened, and she has a strong sense of obligation, feeling the need to repay any kindness shown to her. She is also easily embarrassed, becoming flustered when she makes minor social mistakes, such as mistakenly calling the taller Kanna Makino a "little girl".

Choi's primary motivation is her duty to the royal family, specifically to assist the young Prince Mecha in finding a suitable bride. This mission is deeply personal to her, as she harbors a secret, one-sided affection for the prince. She often blushes in his presence and is shown to hold him in very high regard, feelings that go beyond simple loyalty to a master. When she first arrives, she is wary of Tamako and the other residents of the shopping district. This suspicion is fueled by Dera, who lies and claims that Tamako is responsible for his excessive weight gain, leading Choi to believe that Tamako is trying to fatten him up. She remains guarded until Tamako cares for her when she falls ill with a fever, an act of kindness that helps Choi overcome her homesickness and accept the community's goodwill.

Choi's role in the story becomes pivotal as she investigates Tamako as a potential bride. She notices that Tamako possesses the same fragrance as the prince and has a specific mark on the nape of her neck, signs that legend says indicate the prince's destined partner. Convinced by these observations, Choi incorrectly declares Tamako to be the prince's bride. In the end, she confesses that her judgment was not based on a confirmed divination but on her own wishes, as she had wanted Tamako to be the princess. Her relationship with Tamako, after a rocky start, develops into a trusting friendship, and she begins calling her "Lady Tamako". Her relationship with Dera is strictly professional and hierarchical; as her subordinate, he is expected to assist with her fortune-telling, and she shows him little patience.

Throughout the series, Choi demonstrates notable abilities in divination. She performs fortunes using an ocarina and her bird, Dera, and her predictions are shown to be accurate. She is also skilled in sewing, capable of repairing Dera's communication equipment. In terms of development, Choi starts as an outsider, suspicious of the new world she has entered. Through her interactions with Tamako and the warmth of the shopping district, she becomes more open and accepting, ultimately realizing that her desire to find the prince's bride may have been influenced by her own feelings rather than her duty alone. After Tamako declines the prince's proposal, Choi returns to her homeland with him, though a final close-up of her touching her own neck suggests the possibility that she herself may bear the same mark she was looking for in others.
