Description
Nowa, an Asian black bear inhabiting a rural forest, stands 187 cm tall and weighs 82 kg. His physique includes a notably soft and fluffy chest area, a feature increasingly emphasized visually. Gentle, timid, kind, and often plump due to a significant appetite, Nowa displays strong nurturing instincts. He discovers an orphaned Irish Wolfhound puppy, Airi, alone on a beach and takes him in. Without prior childcare experience, Nowa raises Airi single-handedly, sacrificing his natural hibernation cycles for multiple years to ensure the puppy's safety and well-being, establishing himself as a dedicated caregiver.
When biological necessity forces Nowa to hibernate, he arranges for his civet cat acquaintance, Kou, to care for Airi, demonstrating foresight. Upon awakening, Nowa finds Airi matured into an adult with a humanoid wolfhound appearance. This triggers confusion and conflict as Nowa struggles to reconcile their previous parent-child bond with Airi's new romantic feelings and unexpected physical intimacy during hibernation. Initially resistant to a romantic relationship with his former ward, Nowa seeks Kou's counsel. Kou advises prioritizing mutual happiness over conventional expectations, prompting Nowa's introspection and eventual acceptance of a romantic partnership with Airi.
They transition to cohabitation in Nowa's childhood home, distinct from their initial forest setting. Nowa continues protective behaviors, like taking Airi for necessary vaccinations disguised as shopping trips. Though he initially planned to return to solitary island life once Airi adjusted, Nowa abandons this intention as their relationship deepens. His character arc shows evolving reciprocity; he allows Airi to care for him during illness, shifting from solely being a caregiver to embracing interdependence. The narrative portrays his ongoing adjustment to romantic intimacy while retaining his core kindness and nurturing responsibility.
