Description
Kōki Akune is a second-year student at Hakoniwa Academy and serves as the secretary of the student council, making him the oldest member among the council's core team. His background is marked by a dramatic transformation. In middle school, he was a notorious violent delinquent known as the Destroyer, and the then–student council president Misogi Kumagawa assigned him to attack Medaka Kurokami. Akune assaulted Medaka while she was injured and would not fight back, but when Zenkichi Hitoyoshi rallied supporters to avenge her, Medaka stepped in to protect Akune. This act of mercy immediately sparked a deep infatuation in Akune toward Medaka, and he gradually abandoned his violent ways. He still harbors romantic feelings for Medaka, which she does not reciprocate, and he resents Zenkichi for the close time Zenkichi shares with her.

Personality-wise, Akune is initially aggressive and hot-tempered, but after his conversion he becomes more composed and shows little desire to actually harm others. He is fiercely loyal to Medaka and to the student council. His natural combat prowess, especially in judo, earned him the nickname Prince of Judo. Within the council, he and Mogana Kikaijima are classified as specials—individuals above average but not reaching the abnormal tier. A notable ability attributed to him is the capacity to copy other people's skills or powers to a limited extent, though his primary strength lies in his innate athletic and fighting talent.

His role in the story centers on supporting Medaka as a student council member during the Flask Plan conflicts, the confrontation with the Party of Thirteen led by Oudo Miyakonojou, and other crises. He is recruited into the council after losing a judo match arranged by club captain Nekomi Nabeshima, who favored Zenkichi; Nabeshima later recommended Akune to Medaka because of his beautiful handwriting. Over time, Akune matures into a reliable ally. His key relationships include a rivalry-turned-comradeship with Zenkichi, a mutual respect with Kikaijima, and ultimately a romantic future with Wanizuka, whom he marries. Ten years after the main events, Akune has become the owner of a successful toy company and enjoys creating toys himself.
